What did you do in the garden today?

Even here, near where Lyme was discovered (Lyme, CT), it is hard to find a specialist who understands Lyme. Your doc was incorrect, of course, about it being too late to treat you for obvious Lyme. The 24-hour thing is generally accepted, though. The ticks that carry Lyme are smaller than a pinhead until they suck your blood for awhile, and like to attach in unmentionable places where they are hard to find.

Try tick gaiters! Safer than shorts. They recommend long pants tucked into socks, a fashion statement that will probably take the rural US by storm.

I am going to look up the gaiters!

When I was a kid in rural Missouri, my siblings and I would tuck our socks into jeans and put duct tape around the ankles when blackberry picking. The whole area was full of the tiny ticks that you couldn't see, but they would be in patches, so you would suddenly have a horde of them crawling up your leg. We called them seed ticks since they were so tiny.

*Spoiler Alert! This post loaded all Wonky’ I’m too tired to fix it*

Baby Toad Season. :hit
They’re everywhere can’t help but run them over with the car. I try not to look as my chickens massacre them.
I’ve had toads that I fed mealworms

The wind was awful today by 10:30 locked up the girls and went inside. I watered tonight and tied up all the leggy flowers that now will get proper sun since I trimmed the trees.
The End

The hollyhocks are gorgeous!

I got out early this morning, around 7 a.m. and cleaned out my garden.

I have no idea why this keeps happening but I lost almost my entire gardent to spiders. It just happened in the last day and a half. I went out yesterday evening and saw webs all over most of the plants, with tiny baby spiders. Since the last batch of them were black widows, I am not taking any chances. I put Sevin all over the garden, but this morning they were still there, and active. I ripped everything out and dumped it far from the house. It is raining today, or I would have burned it.
I have no idea why the spiders like my garden. They have 6 acres of woods to live in, but it seems to be a magnet for them.
So now my only garden left is a cucumber plant in a container, and my planter on the porch that my husband built. The tomatoes are doing great in that on, and so is the lettuce.

Makes one wonder what the spiders are trying to say it is animals and insects that warn us there was a 6.5 quake in Death Valley California this morning

I wish they would communicate without having tons of babies near my house. :barnie It wouldn't bother me if I knew they were harmless spiders, but considering the webs look like black widow webs, I don't want them!
This is the second year of this. It makes me wonder if my garden is doomed.
Last year there were black widow webs around all the stumps in the yard, with babies in them. We doused them with lighter fluid and burned the stumps. We have three trees in the front yard that have knotholes and black widows have taken up residence there both summers we have lived here.

Had decent coolish, albeit very humid, two hours this morning. So I finished the tie up, pruning, and fertilizing the garden. By the end I was melting as the sun came out.

We have A TOMATO! Two more days and it's on DHs hamburger. LOL.

Now the sun is blazing and it's HOT and HUMID.

Cattle are back next door. DH fed the stock this morning and found two baby raccoons in the fox trap. Man, I bet their mom is mad at them! Out past dawn! Now hiding until dark in the mulberry tree. LOL. Then they have to run the gauntlet of the herd of cattle. Snort.:lau Hope the whole can of cat food was worth it.
