What did you do in the garden today?

I love watching the bats at night site was kinda off for a bit I was having a time myself
had to go in to the feed store she got in the hopefully the last 4 oyster makes like 12 now to do the front but sure looks 100 percent better than dry brown leaves and dirt.
So almost 3 here hope all had a safe night love the idea of Vic's will try that about dusk it happens here although was out in back most the night no bites so far

Got the coop sprayed today.
This year ~ I’ve noticed
More honey bee’s
More bats
More hummingbirds
When the bats all rush out at night (to me) it’s a beautiful sight.
I hardly see any bats here anymore... they were good mosquito eaters.

We found a bunch of wild blackberry vines along our property so we started clearing out some brush so they can get more sunlight. My mouth is watering at the thought of all these fresh berries... but there's a lot more work to be done.

City Maintenance sprayed for Mosquitoes about 5 years ago. It affected the food chain terribly. They then started a program giving out bat-boxes to anyone who was willing to have them installed. In hopes to save them.
ETA: Score! On the berries. You could have a real nice patch going.

I worked some more on the garden fence ( after the torrential downpour). I am almost finished with the fence. My garden is only a cattle panel long and 3/4 of a cattle panel wide, but then I also covered the cattle panels with 2" x 4" fencing. It will keep the rabbits, chickens, and deer out, but some smaller things like mice could get in. I just have a bit more of the 2 x 4 inch fence to put around. Some I had was taller than the cattle panels and some was about half the height of the cattle panels. So I have 2 portions that need the 2nd layer so that it will be a uniform height all around.
I collected 3 cucumbers today and a handful of cherry tomatoes (they were splitting).
I have 6 blueberry bushes, but 4 of them don't seem to have grown at all in the 3 or 4 years that I have had them. I only water them with rain water and I add saw dust each year ( for the PH). Anyone have any other suggestions? Am I suppose to cut them back or anything?
Last year I planted 2 blackberry bushes and 2 raspberry bushes. I know the blackberries are doing well. I'll have to walk around to the back of the garage and check on the raspberry bushes tomorrow.
ETA: I just remembered that I have seen some blackberry brambles on our property. When it dries back out some I will have to go traipse through our woods and see if I can find them again. They weren't very large when I found them last year.

Time for me to harvest some kale! Since it got hot the little plants, which had been growing slowly but steadily, took off and shot up. I swear the corn gained an inch or two per day in the last few days!

My DD, SIL, and granddaughter arrived tonight. All my flowers either finished blooming or haven’t started, so on Wednesday I bought some zinnias, verbena, and monarda on sale, and filled in the sad spots. Garden looks great! I’m so pleased. My daughter said, “You’ve been doing SO much work!” Which is the truth. They stared in amazement at the stone walls that DH and I built. Mostly DH.

I know they've come down our road and sprayed for something, but I don't know what. We live right on the city limit line, so they stop maintenance 2 driveways down.

Two properties across the street put in ponds within the last decade, so the mosquito population went up, dramatically. Like, I don't want to walk outside some days it's that bad.
