What did you do in the garden today?

I know they've come down our road and sprayed for something, but I don't know what. We live right on the city limit line, so they stop maintenance 2 driveways down.

Two properties across the street put in ponds within the last decade, so the mosquito population went up, dramatically. Like, I don't want to walk outside some days it's that bad.
If those peeps with the ponds would have a bunch of minnows in there, the mosquito larva would end up eaten.
I have read about ways to control mosquitoes in a garden pond,,,, and that was one way to do it. :thumbsup
If the pond is bigger,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, get more minnows:idunno

TOTALLY!
White cloud mountain minnows are what I have. My tiny pond has zero way to ever release into any body of water so no risk of foreign species introduction.

The other option are mosquito tabs.

Nice tomato @WthrLady!

watered the garden early today. So very hot lately and no rain - the plants really needed a drink. Yes, I knew it was going to rain later today, but figured an 8-hour break between my watering and any rain was ok. It rained pretty good, but only for about 45 min- 1 hour, so I don't think the plants are going to be too wet. Picked green beans (second variety).

So stinking hot though. I broke down and purchased a 50' roll of tan shade cloth from Amazon. Tried local stores, but nothing available. So this is one that can be cut and sewn. I'll need at least 2 sections. The chickens have a decent area of shade under their coop, but the shade cloth should also allow the for a reduction in temp. I'll put it on the South and east facing sides of the run (the west side backs up to the barn). But, there is at least 8 more weeks of potentially very hot weather, so I figured it was needed. I'd certainly want it if I was wearing a down coat all the time.

Looked up the blossom drop issue I'm having with the tomatoes. It can be caused simply by temperatures. Too hot during the day, too hot at night and too high humidity. Well, we've had pretty hot days lately, and the humidity has been pretty high, so maybe that is a contributor to the problem.

I was at the Garden Center a few days ago. Just scanning around what things I should buy:oops:
I am ready to get 2 knock out roses to plant where I jerked out some dead bushes. (winter cold kill) I know that when supplies get low, store clearances stuff out.
Any ways, saw these garden decorations, and decided to take pix of them. If they go on clearance, I may get a few. (just to add to my existing collection of garden decor)
