What did you do in the garden today?

Bees are not the only pollinators out there; flies, bees, wasps, butterflies, ants, moths are just some. A lot of times, squash and melons are pollinated by specific species of flies and moths.

I keep bees. I honestly have no idea where they go all day. I rarely see them around my own property. This summer I've seen one on a clover, one on a fence post, and two on the russian sage in the front yard. So where are the other 1996 bees going all day? No idea.

They must all be teenagers.

OH I see bees! Just not MY bees! LOL. The little goobers. But as long as they keep me in gold, I love the little goobers.

Starting my tea collecting and drying for the year. Currently working on the St Johns wort and mint growing in the yard around the house.

Next will be the small yellow clover and the large purple clover growing in the yard.

Then I will move on to the Oregon grape growing around the house and then harvest up through the edge of our southern forest.

Then the Hawthorn berries will be ripening and ready to pick late august early September. Then early October after the first freeze we begin to collect the elderberries.

We still buy a bit of tea, but not nearly as much as we would if we didn't collect tea. We drink a fair bit of tea. We generally run one coffee maker for coffee and the other for our home teas, just fill the filter with loose tea instead of coffee.

Anyone else collect teas?

Some St Johns wort on the right and mint on the left collected from the yard this morning. Now bundled and drying..
