What did you do in the garden today?

Good morning gardeners. I watered the garden yesterday. Everything was so very dry. I picked 2 cucumbers, a zucchini and a yellow squash this morning. Yesterday morning I processed the turnip greens and got them into the freezer. I have a total of 2 lbs. of turnip greens in the freezer now. Apparently a much better yield than I did with the spinach. I guess I didn't get the memo on the heat because it's supposed to be hot near 90F again today with a better possibility of thunderstorms. Yesterday I let my rooster hang out in the grass with the hens and he was very good. I think his time in lock up finally mellowed him out because he was so much more gentler with the girls. Although Ms. Vicious aka "she thinks she is a rooster" got way out of control and she is in lock up now. I won't get into detail but what she did to one of the other girls was horrible. There is peace in the chicken coop finally. No plans for any work in the garden today, it's my long morning at the senior center. Tomorrow I finally get my car back. Yay! Thank you for the video on tomato issues @WthrLady. I will look at it later when I have more time. Have a great day everyone.

harvested 6 of those large cluster tomatoes yesterday. I put them down while I watered and the hens stole two of them before I could snatch them back. Grrrrr.

Tossed out 3 romas and 4 peppers that the hoppers got to. This has been a horrible garden summer across the area. The tomato plants are thin and spindly and bordering on pale.

Depressing. I have NOTHING for fair. My cucumber just now has baby cucumbers on it. That's INSANE! I'd be done canning pickles by now in a regular year.

@Wee Farmer Sarah - did you get those thunderstorms last night? They cooled us off beautifully, especially the sudden wind. We moved things into the garage as the wind was knocking things over.

I made this last night after cooking, sautéing, and dehydrating the endless zucchini. Unbelievably good! I couldn’t get enough of it, and even DH loved it and he doesn’t like beans!

I didn’t get the storms yesterday. I was really disappointed. Maybe today. That dish looked yummy.

I ate my first garden carrot last night. I have a roma tomato ready, I'm going to a festival this weekend & will bring it with me. Along with some sun golds & cukes.

I found my big freezer door open this am & everything in the door & stuff on top thawed. Argh. I know I did it freezing water for the chickens yesterday so I can't even blame Todd. :gig

Oh my Lord I am so sorry that is tough to swallow

spent two hours tonight with my trusty ames weed popper taking buffalo burr out of the pasture. packed a whole 50 pound feed back tight with the stuff. It's EVIL!

I'm glad you are taking on evil in the pasture! Even though I don't know what a weed popper is (same as a weed whacker? string trimmer?) or what Buffalo burr is. We have plenty of weeds in New England, but. . . Burdock?

google it. It's COVERED with strong needle sharp thorns and they're long! Even the bottom of the leaves. It is highly toxic if eaten, although i Don't know WHAT would eat it. Quail eat the seeds. GOATS won't even touch it!

The weed stick shoves in the ground, you give it a twist and it pops the whole weed out by the root. It's a great back saver. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Ames-Stand-Up-Weeder-2917300/206297058

That looks like allot of work also oh my
