What did you do in the garden today?

Thanks Karen got it wonder if I could use oyster shell in place of egg shell never give egg shell to my birds

I'm sure you could or just make it without anything sprinkled on top. Either way, I'm sure they will love them! My birds were afraid of it at first. I strung 6 of the alfalfa treats on a long braided yarn and spaced them out. Like I said, they had pretty much devoured them by the time I went out in the morning to let them out for the day.

I had a very productive day! I made fudge, another batch of Christmas Jam, finished the book I was reading, hauled food out to the coops, packaged up some jams and jellies for 2 friends for their Christmas presents ( I still need to get something to put a bit of the fudge in for them and then I can deliver them next week!) and fixed steak and broccoli with cheese for dinner. Now I'm going to pick out another book to read!
Tomorrow evening my husband and I will go up to my mom's assisted living place for their Christmas dinner & Gala.

Ok the hen isn't lost she showed up at Chicken'dark:30 last night. She was hunkered down somewhere safe and away from the flock. I informed the neighbor she wasn't dead regardless I know he will tell his wife and one of the previous solutions I mentioned will probably happen.
That is great news!!! :clap

@TropicalBabies and @AllenK RGV unfortunately I did not think to take a picture of the alfalfa souffle garland, byt next time I make it I'll post a picture.
As I said before this is not my recipe. I got it from the Chicken Chick, off of her website.
But here it is:
Alfalfa Souffle Garland Chicken Treats
12 eggs ( I only used 10)
1/2 cup mealworms (I didn't have any, so I substituted BOSS about 1 cup)
3/4 cup wheatgerm ( I couldn't find mine so I left it out)
1 cup of Candula petals (I pulled out the petals from the Marigold seed heads I had, but tried not to get too may of the actual seeds because I want to plant them next year!)
1 Tablespoon ground cinnamon
12 to 15 cubes of Alfalfa ( I bought that many but it was WAY too much!!) soak in water to equal 2 cups of re-hydrated alfalfa ( I did use 2 cups of re-hydrated alfalfa)
Crushed egg shells from 3 or 4 eggs
cooking spray
9 x 12 baking pan or some cupcake pans ( I used 6 small heart shaped cake pans & 6 small circular pie pans ( like for individual pies))

Break apart the soaked alfalfa cubes and remove any thick pieces or long sticks. The alfalfa should be moist not soaking wet.
Preheat oven to 350 F. Spray pans with cooking spray. ( Don't be stingy with the spray, a few of mine stuck).
In a bowl mix everything except the egg shells. Pour (mine was spoon) into the prepared pans. Sprinkle crushed egg shells over the top. (I pressed them down some to try to get them to stick better, but still a lot of it fell off). I also added a plain granola bar that I found in the cabinet that had been torn open no telling how long ago! I crumbled it on top with the crushed egg shells.

My thoughts:

Alfalfa Souffle Garland Chicken Treats
12 eggs ( I only used 10)
1/2-1 cup BOSS
3/4 cup 100% whole wheat
1 cup of whatever flowers are blooming most likely Hibiscus
1 Tablespoon ground cinnamon(scratch this for me I do not season for chicken)
12 to 15 cubes of Alfalfa ( I bought that many but it was WAY too much!!) soak in water to equal 2 cups of re-hydrated alfalfa ( I did use 2 cups of re-hydrated alfalfa)

Cook until the bread thermometer reads 200F.

Should be good as long as you know that Hibiscus are safe for chickens to eat.

You all must have the happiest chickens in town!

Way more than I did! I had good intentions to re pressurize the tank for our well water yesterday but my DH got that nasty flu that has been going around for months (even with his flu shot). I have an earache, so we are sleeping and watching movies while my tomato plants wilt and the chickens dig through the pile of leaves I raked this morning. Oh the gilt!!! :p
