What did you do in the garden today?

Good morning all. Welcome to the garden thread @redrooster99. It's nice to have another gardener who is in a different climate/growing zone. I'm having a bit of an adjustment to the size of page now. My view setting is at 100% and that seems way too big. Also, on my phone I still have the lightening bolt symbol for alerts. We will get through this. I'm still enjoying a bit milder temperatures. Yesterday I did some more work on the fencing around the new compost area, Since the ground is still frozen, I'm using rope wrapped around trees to secure the fencing for now. Today is my long morning at the senior center so will try to cram a little work in later this afternoon. The last big wind storm knocked my solar powered motion sensor light out of commission, so I will be changing the battery and checking the lines on that today. Hopefully it just needs a little tweaking. The chickens have been enjoying this weather for sure. And perhaps it's just him getting closer to his second birthday, but my rooster is so much nicer now. He's not jumping the ladies every two minutes. Thank goodness. Have a great day everyone.

We are having blue skies today! Hopefully it lasts all day. Yesterday was drab and cloudy.

my 4-H kid kept telling me NOT to order anymore chicks...no room and didn’t want to get rid of any chickens. Well, I told kid that I ordered chicks and what kinds (spouse and I picked breeds this time), and kid says “oh great, you picked breeds I can’t even complain about!” And was smiling, of course. Then we discussed which chickens are likely to be sold later on.

looked through seed catalogues. Might order a few seed packets, but haven’t fully decided yet as it is very easy to buy too many. Spouse wants to try onions and then garlic in the fall.

STILL sick, slowly getting better. January colds have a way of not letting go very easily.

Good luck with the garlic! I've tried to grow it and haven't had any luck. I even went to a class on how to grow garlic! I guess I flunked :lau
Sorry to hear that you are still under the weather. I hope you feel better soon!

Today was the first full 12 hour shift in the factory. Yesterday was 6 hours in the factory and the 5 and 1/2 hours in safety classes.
I have tomorrow off and then I start for real on Friday. So I'll be working Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and then have the rest of the week off.
My left shoulder and my right knee were sore, but I am enjoying what I'm doing. Friday I will meet the person that I will be working with. Hopefully I will like her as much as I have the people that were training me!

I don't know anything about garlic, so I just planted cloves from a garlic I bought at Wal-Mart and they are about six inches tall already. I also have two celery plants started from the bottoms of ones I used in the kitchen. One is now in a pot and one is still in a bowl, both in a sunny window on the back porch where I can see them when I wash dishes. They make me happy, and remind me spring will come, even when it's foggy and misty and rainy for days on end! I don't mind the misty days, I think they are peaceful and lovely and mysterious and remind me of Seattle, but I do miss the sunshine too. I never know how much gardening I will be able to do, but for now, I have celery and that's something.
