What did you do in the garden today?

Good morning all!
Just finished my quick catch up read and all sounds well. Fantastic! Welcome and welcome back to a few chicken faces I am not familiar with yet. Garden progress sounds big.
DH has been keeping me hoping...
This morning he is resting and feeding the horses so I am sneaking in a quick check in with you folks- my secret computer pleasure lol.
Yes, isnt retirement a blast! 20200115_100552.jpg one tree down two more to go .

After me finding the Bantams hidden nests a few times, and then them moving it after I found it. They have now moved their nest 2 yards over... that's it. So yesterday and today and forever.... they are in chicken jail till they lay in a proper nest box. Hope this works to solve the issue.

Weather has been awesome. Seedling popping up. All is well.

We have a windy but tolerably decent day today, with snow ice and rain on the way.

So, my flock is out while I'm unloading groceries from the car and bringin bins back from the curb, and they decided the dwarf black monkey grass just planted yesterday needed moving. LOL. So I send them to another part of the yard and re-plant the stuff. So, now I'm headed out back to see what they've done in my dormant veggie garden. It will be nice if they did some removal of early emerging weeds or better, harvest some sunchoke roots!

Thanks. Penny.
Well the unseasonably warm spell is over. The wind is finall bring winter to the DC area. Thank God!
In finishin up today, filled my wild bird feeders with BOSS, gave a few to the chooks as they headed into the coop, and tucked in 3 more monkey grass bits they had uprooted at the last minute.

Does anyone know if lily family relatives are toxic to chickens?

Good luck with the job hunt, @igorsMistress ! Glad you are enjoying your new job, @karenerwin . So fun to read everyone's wish lists... for sun, for snow :)eek:) for fruit trees to put in, for chokes to be taken out .... for bantams to behave and nest at home, lol... makes ME wish for a magic wand to make everyone's wishes come true! Soon it will be Spring and we will all be very busy. I am learning to like these misty days, I sit by the wood stove, listen to my music and imagine everybody prepping their gardens all over the country and poring over their seed catalogs. So fun!

My chickens' run is full of lilies ( well not 100% full but, LOTS in there!) - and they leave them alone. We've had lilies in there 4 or 5 years. They sit and scratch under them but never a sick bird!
