What did you do in the garden today?

BTW: the TV weather guys got it terribly wrong on today's weather. The temps are hovering around 32F and we've been getting freezing rain and sleet since before dawn. There's some heavy icing on the trees and I'm waiting for a little slacking off so I can check on my chickens. Ice storm, ugh! I have 2 big pine branches that are trying to touch the ground.

Photos for me please?!!! It is so interesting to me- like green to you folks :D

No, not quite a horror story, but I really don't like ice storms. I went through the big one in 1996 while living in the Pacific Northwest near the Idaho border. Serious long term power outages. The sun just came out and the wind is blowing. The temperature is rising a bit, thank goodness. It shook enough of the ice off the pine tree over my chicken coop so it should be fine. Here are some pictures. All the white stuff is sleet and freezing rain. There may be a little snow mixed in. Enjoy.

It looks beautiful! I guess as long as you can stay inside and be warm. Wonderful day to make soup and salad 😉 and bread and cookies!

My future DIL is having us over for lunch for a "surprise" celebration for DH's retirement.
I'm bringing pasta salad, green salad and an Arugula salad. No gardening today, when we make it back I hope to jump back on the lanai sanding.
Chickens are wonderful and enjoying their new man... for the most part. He is a little rough but a pretty darn good roo. He smells and acts a bit like a teenage boy but I am sure he will mellow with age and security. I really love having a roo. 😁

We had tornadoes this morning ... TORNADOES! In MARYLAND? ACK! Our local high school went on lockdown and all vehicles were ordered off the road for about ten minutes while the rotation passed over. Nothing touched down here, but we heard the mess roar through. We were lucky, but further west didn't fare as well.
This is one crazy winter! It's already February and we've had almost NO snow, minimal ice (not that I'm complaining about that one) and a smattering of 60 degree (F) days. The rest has been nothing but bitterly cold rain and crazy-wild wind. I am SO ready for Spring ... better yet, I want my flip-flops back!
