We had tornadoes this morning ... TORNADOES! In MARYLAND? ACK! Our local high school went on lockdown and all vehicles were ordered off the road for about ten minutes while the rotation passed over. Nothing touched down here, but we heard the mess roar through. We were lucky, but further west didn't fare as well.
This is one crazy winter! It's already February and we've had almost NO snow, minimal ice (not that I'm complaining about that one) and a smattering of 60 degree (F) days. The rest has been nothing but bitterly cold rain and crazy-wild wind. I am SO ready for Spring ... better yet, I want my flip-flops back!

I’m originally from Maryland and I remember some pretty devastating tornadoes back in the late 90’s or it may have been early 2000’s. College Park got hit real bad. A few people died in that. We get tornadoes here in Massachusetts as well. Scary stuff.

Horse is delivered. I am wiped out! A lot of driving to there and back and now the whole day has gone. But that project is done and now on to the next.

Cold and bitter winds here today. I'm not a fan of the ice either. Not one bit.

Re: wild boars. Look up the giant wild boars and hogs in southern alabama and the florida panhandle. It's open season on those monsters. They're HUGE, mean and hard to kill. DS school was late three hours opening one day as one had wandered near the school and even after the sheriff shot it, they had to bring a tractor in to drag it out! THEY ARE ENORMOUS! Not even good eating at that size, and they breed like rats.

Going to check out that little shop of seeds place. Itching to get things growing in the little green house. I use coir and perlite and vermiculite and green sand for a starter. Then I transplant to compost mixed with coir, and then soil and compost.

Got milk for 50 cents a gallon today. Made A LOT of cheese.
Except for mounting the horse and taking final photos, and delivering, it is DONE! I love taking things off my 'to do' list.

And get this. Had a slice of new cheese this morning, and walked out of the house to deliver the horse, leaving new 1.5 pound block of cheese on the counter for 7 hours. UGH! Dang it.

Morning Gardeners was out early but we had to do oil change on car free for life but cost 200 out the door figure that ... Stopped at Costco quick trip there bought a huge shaker of Miracle grow love the stuff on veggies get it 20 bucks pay twice that in hardware store

Good morning gardeners. I did have goat once when I went to an Indian buffet restaurant. I thought it was beef, but then I was reminded (after I ate it) that they do not serve beef in Indian restaurants. Stupid me. It was OK. Nothing I would order on purpose. There is a Caribbean Grocery Store not far from me and I'm sure they likely sell goat meat. So after 2 inches of slush, it rained most of last night and will be raining most of today. The temps are holding just above freezing so I'm hoping the slush level goes down a bit. I started working on my living room ceiling. I scraped the peeling paint off and got the "plaster" up on it. Today I will do some sanding. Then hopefully will have that painted next week. I do plan on venturing out of the house tomorrow. That is if the roads are not an icy mess. I need to get starter soil for my plants and get some of the seeds started soon. The weather forecast has quite a bit of snow for next week, so I guess I'll hold off on the pruning for now. I love all the garden photos. As for poinsettias, I have one that is around 9 years old. I've given away multiple babies from it and have 2 babies now. I need to get some potting soil so I can do some repotting this year. Your chickens are lovely @Acre4Me. I hope you feel better soon @karenerwin. Have a great day everyone.

Thanks! I am starting to feel a little better so I am sure that after a few more days worth of antibiotics I will feel much better! Also, you reminded me, I have eaten goat as well! And OX tail and several fish dishes that we don't have here ( that I know of). I went to Jamaica the last 2 summers and I tried all types of native dishes! I thought they were good. The brown saltfish stew was way too salty for me, but otherwise it was good. Their jerk chicken is too spicy for me at least most of the places that I tried it!

Hello all. I went with hubs to get the results of his MRI on the ankle. It turns out he has a stress fracture in his tibia where it meets the ankle. It didn't show up in the xray. No surgery, 4 more weeks light duty at work. I walked through the garden. The cold might have killed the dill seedlings, I have more seed to put in. There's a crookneck squash that sprouted as well. I've been hunting for string of pearls for 2 years, even avoided buying from Amazon, and I finally found one today when we went to the grocery store for milk. Tomorrow we'll process 2 cockerels in the morning and then I'll need to water the garden, then dig out the hibiscus and replant in a deeper hole. Have a great weekend everyone.

I might have splurged on a gas tiller...
It was a great deal though. Normally $300 and I paid $120. It's going to be handy in prepping the extension of the garden once the weather stays above freezing for a bit.
