What did you do in the garden today?

What did you do in your garden today?

I picked a bunch of Rattlesnake green beans and Cherokee wax beans, a few tomatoes, three eggplants, some broccoli shoots, and jalapenos. Pretty happy with today's harvest!

I just finished my garden enclosure. Have to keep the deer out.

Neem oil is supposed to help with powdery mildew.
Speaking of neem oil, I mixed together 100% neem oil, dish soap, water and cayenne pepper into a nasty concoction and sprayed down one of our new wooden beds. Since I opted to build the last two beds out of just wood using 2x12's, I wanted to ensure we keep the critters away. I also sprayed this where I found some termites in the garden. It is nasty stuff. I recommend a mask when working with it. There smell actually upset my stomach, which you would normally think is made of titatium.

Pulled my habaneros from the greenhouse and planted them around my little acre garden. Also pulled the tomatillos and panted half a row of them, first year growing them. My ghost and scorpion peppers are close to putting in the dirt. The reaper pepper seeds I ordered at the same time as the rest just arrived a couple of days ago so I got them in cups today in the greenhouse.

That sounds nasty!

Morning all. Happy Easter to those that partake.

Found a small table at a local antique store for $20. (Owner is a friend and elderly and needed some eggs. Otherwise she wasn't open.) I brought it home removed the old paint and repainted. Friend down the road who also has a woodshop, but does tables and chairs had a scrap of end glued table top in his burn pile for me. I sanded, finished and sealed it and gave the table a new top. Now I have a new low sewing table for in front of the sofa downstairs. Total cost. $28.

New sewing machine is already hard at work. The orders for masks are coming in as fast as I can make them.

Took time off yesterday to go fishing with DS while that table dried.

Today was rocked out of bed at 530am by a crack of thunder. Our old house 30 miles south had egg sized hail....again. That whole area had new rooves and sideing put on 4 years ago. I guess they're spending Easter on the phone with their insurance agents. There goes THOSE stimulus checks.....hail deductibles...ugh.

Just sprinkles at my place, sleet, freezing rain and snow later. Will be starting my cells today.
Still have two girls on eggs. 5 purbred French Blue/Black/Splash Copper Marans. and one FBCM Scream-a-pillar cross. I'll candle tomorrow. Scream-a-pillar has trouble remembering which nest to sit on, but otherwise she's a good sitter. (I put 12 eggs in one next box after gathering the days eggs, I forgot my bucket, finished chores and came back to a TINY icelandic bird perched on 12 eggs. LOL)

Have a good day all. Don't eat too much chocolate.

We had a lot of 'spring cleaning' on the schedule today, but I was able to get outside for a while. Supposed to drizzle tonight and showers tomorrow. As my optimistic daughter always reminds me...April showers bring May flowers 🌺 🌼💐

So now I have a batch of eggs on the stove for us to dye. Doggy is happy and waiting by the pot because he knows he'll get some 'bad' ones out :bowof the batch :lau

And I received some of my seeds today! The packaging was stella and they sent me a little starter handbook too. Weather permitting, guess what I'm doing tomorrow??

I also planted cosmos, burdock, and some seeds that mom said are from her brown sunflowers? No idea. I don't care. Love getting seeds in the mail :bow

Experiment. I'm trying this with some strawberries that I bought from the store: Step 3 of Part 1. Will move on to Part 2 (germination) after the strips are dry and seeds come loose.

I wish everyone a most blessed & wonderful Easter holiday! Don't forget to decorate and hide our girls' eggs!!!
Here burdock is a weed I kill . I am aware some eat it . Gobo I think is what the Japanese call it .

Good morning gardeners. Welcome to the newcomers on the thread. Another cold morning around 28F. Brrrr! Of course the wind started to howl yesterday so no work outside. I did get another soil test done. This is kind of suspicious since I checked the new dirt and the results were pretty much identical to the other two. I'm going to test some potting soil today and see if I get the same results. The plastic covering on my hoop garden finally gave in to the wind and I had to get that secured again. Hopefully the winds will remain calm today so I can get some compost moved to the garden beds. At least the chickens got out of their run yesterday and did some grazing in the back yard. Powdery mildew is a tough one to deal with @pinknblackchaos especially if you are in a humid climate with frequent evening rain showers. I think the best thing in that type of climate is to not crowd your plants so they have more "breathing room." Otherwise, watering under the leaves works best. I really am hoping to get something accomplished outside today. Tomorrow is supposed be stormy wet, and windy. Ugh! Have a great day everyone and enjoy the warm weather if you have some.

Good morning gardeners. Happy Easter if you celebrate.

It was partly cloudy yesterday and we had a short lived downpour, but it was nice outside. I let the chicks out yesterday and they were all there at bedtime. Today I'll water a bit and refresh the hay in the nest boxes. Afterward the boys and I are going for a bike ride and making homemade pretzels. Have a great day everyone!
