What did you do in the garden today?

I used a circular/worm drive with an old finish (more teeth) type blade. That may make quicker work w/ better cuts than the grinder but hell on the ears.
A cutting disc on the grinder is pretty quick and clean cutting for me. A circular saw with worn blade sounds hellish. I guess it depends on each person's experience with a tool. Happy that worked for you though.

Okay, so here is our garden, most of it anyway...

Hopefully I did this right, sorry if there are too many images.
This is sort of my goal... not quite there yet though.

I am in love with all your seedlings @pinknblackchaos and @NewBoots! Keep those pics coming!!

And I forgot who posted about borage but 'tis a lovely plant!!! It will keep reseeding itself too. Take care to preserve the flowers. Only thing I suggest is to use gloves if you are prone to allergic reactions. But you can make candies and such out of it as well -- I have grown the purple, pink and white variations: https://www.ediblewildfood.com/crystallized-borage.aspx

Now I have a question. Does anyone know what this is? It sprouted about a month ago. I love the red buds...

what is this.jpg

I hope everyone has a lovely evening -- we are looking at the high 60's for the next few weeks so I'm supah eggscited. And here's something that popped up in the yard today...reminded me of @TropicalBabies...I miss the islands!!!

That looks like red clover to me. And I have borage planted in a few of the raised beds and will be transplanting more. We have them for the rabbits, chickens and to bring in the bees to the beds that have fruits. DP said there was a lot of uses for the flowers as well. Thanks for the link, I'll check it out. And yeah, the plants are really prickly, I wear gloves when working with them.

Thank you so much! I don't know how it got there...but oh well!!

I have quite a few recipe books that call for borage flowers. The flowers are gorgeous to crystallize and adorn upon cupcakes, sweet treats, etc. I typically use them in facial astringents, steams or lotions though.

I'm glad you have found out the stems are prickly. When I first started working with them (in my 20's) I had no idea and had a bunch of bumps within the first 20 minutes of harvesting the flowers.

Well, I said I wasn't going to replant my tomatoes and peppers until May 1st, but apparently, I lied. :lau
I went to the produce stand and they had lots of veggie plants and flower plants available. Oh, and produce too.
Anyway, I bought a bunch of tomato plants and green pepper plants. Why do I always buy too many of them? I could plant them all but then I wouldn't have room for cucumbers, beans, zucchini and all of the other goodies I want to grow.
I may ask a friend if she wants my extras. I also bought some zinnias, lantanas, pink snapdragons and something else. I got all of those planted when I got home. Still haven't gotten the potatoes planted yet.
I also got the second coat of paint on the bee hive and the second coat of poly on the decorated bee hive. The rain didn't move in until around 6 or 7PM.

Tomorrow I will have to butcher one of the roosters that was fighting, even if I end up having to do so in the rain. I noticed today that the red EE rooster apparently broke off a good part of his upper beak in that fight.
I checked on the eggs in the incubator. Nothing outwardly going on but I am pretty sure that I saw 1 egg rocking!!
We are supposed to have rain the next 3 days.
Have a great night!
