What did you do in the garden today?

moved so far away from the VA Hospital I just can't do a fasting blood anymore. Driving over 50 miles to Boston on an empty stomach and no coffee is just not a good idea

Last time i had my blood drawn (Lab corps) the check-in screen said water and also coffee were ok and still counted as fasting. The coffee had to be black, I'm pretty sure. But i think sugar was allowed for some reason.
Also, a doctor once told me that something my son had eaten (he forgot to fast) was fine, and it still counted as fasting. The reasoning was along the lines of no protein, or fat, I think. Something to that effect. As long as the body wasn't stimulated to squirt out gall bladder juice, it was fine and the tests would be accurate.
Of course, we're not talking about blood sugar tests here.
Maybe the 50 mile drive can be managed w black sugared coffee and an apple. And a roll with jelly! How's that for fasting? Really, I think food quantity was involved in the equation, as well. But if your doctor knows how to converse with a patient, maybe all is not lost and they can give you acceptable tips.

mix of crushed egg shell, bone meal, and baby asprin to feed the hole when planting
Asprin for what purpose?

Ground baby asprin is a natural rooting agent/stimulant

I was also told one time that fasting for more than 8 hours screwed up tests too. Well if the last thing I eat is supper at 7 and my appt for draw isn't until 8 that's 13 hours. I get up at 5 and by 8am, after an hour drive to get there and doing chores, I'm shaking for lack of food.

Now I ask when the cut off for food is.
Was also told, brushing teeth, and water/tea was ok. But not to add stuff.

Recipe? Please!
2-3 dozen crushed and dried egg shells- I whirl them in the food processor
2 cups bone meal
1/2 cup Epsom salts
14 crushed aspirin- the normal ornage ones, not the coated ones, they're too hard to powder

I put 1Tablespoon per planting hole at planting, then 1Tablespoon top dressed around the plant about every 14 days. I toss it down before a good rain.

Added this to my recipe files :) Thanks!
