What did you do in the garden today?

Welcome to the thread @Kelly Owl. Your garden sounds lovely. If you haven’t noticed, we love to share photos. The chicks are too cute @Acre4Me.
😉 alrighty my friend..my chickens are still nervous but there are 5-6 that will come running when I head to the coop to check for eggs. Tonight my husbands dog grabbed 1 of my "tweedles" the silikes..she is fine and Kalista has been grounded to the chain for all the day tomorrow. I will do my best to get some pics..lol I hope I can find this thread again ..
thank you all my new friends 😃

Here are the baby chicks. FWIW, none of my chickens are golden! (Yes, I have BO, but they aren't laying yet, so they don't count!). Mixed breed are interesting!
OMG so cute! I remember when my big girls were that tiny.

I will do my best to get some pics..lol I hope I can find this thread again ..
thank you all my new friends 😃

The dog vomit fungus?? We've ended up with it in every state we've lived in when we buy MULCH!
That's where we got it from too. Did you have any trouble getting rid of it for good? Any tips?

Still haven't planted my artichokes yet, maybe tomorrow. Today was watering and livestock tending. I picked about 7.5 lbs of beets, both red and gold (I like the gold best) and I pickled and canned them. Also cooked the greens with bacon, mushrooms, and dried cranberries for lunch. Now that I got the canner out I want to get the rest of the trout and salmon canned. Need more lids and more quart jars for doing sauerkraut too. But tomorrow I'm making pork ribs and pasta salad. We should make a little ice cream too.

Good evening gardeners. Welcome to the newcomers, I second that we love pics in this thread. This has been a hell of a day. After we took the pups to the park hubs went to HD and was rear ended; the other driver took off and it took forever to get everything situated. I've managed to get all but the cabinet doors and baseboards painted in the kitchen, I'm pleased with it so far. Next will be the living room, hallway and enclosed patio. The Red Ranger/Silver Dorking girls were picked up today, now it's time to move the white pullets to the mini coop and lock up; the pullets will go to my sons tomorrow and then I'm down to Angus and 6 hens. There are 7 eggs in my incubator right now, 6 Ayam Cemani and 1 I hope is from Cuckoo just to see what I get; this is day 1 so I've got a while to wait. I completely ignored my garden, sad day. Anyway, gotta go shuffle chickens and get a shower, maybe have some dinner. Have a safe and happy 4th of July everyone!

Triple crown blackberries are starting to color!

I got the plants from @Birdielee planted yesterday. All of the elderberry plants showed new growth as did something else (lemon balm??) that was cut off short.
Today I picked a small green pepper and some fresh parsley to use in the shrimp jambalaya that I made for dinner! My tomatoes are loaded with green tomatoes too! I can't wait for them to start ripening. My cucumber plants are taking off like crazy too. My green bean plants aren't doing anything. They look like they should break out into blooms any day, but they don't.
I picked about 35 plumb blackberries this evening! These are the first ever from these canes!
I also got several nice plump strawberries. I am going to make strawberry jam tomorrow (July 4th). I haven't gotten enough strawberries from my garden for that, so I will be using mostly store bought strawberries.
I also need to check my bee hives tomorrow. I had my hubby cut a cattle panel down to size for me while I was at work. So tomorrow ( we are off for the 4th!) I need to attach it to the raised bed so that the cucumber vines cane climb up and over it.
Headed off to bed as it is almost midnight. Have a safe 4th of July everyone!
Oh, my mom was doing much better the next day. They think she was dehydrated. She doesn't remember that day at all.

Glad your Mom's improving.

The plant you figure is lemon balm should smell lemon-y. I think I sent 3.
The black eyed susans are hairy, I think. And the raspberries have little thorns. And the elderberries have smooth canes with pith in the middle.
I didn't know you have bees! Awesome!

I pruned black knot fungus out of the plum trees. But there wasnt much this time. Mostly I was opening it up for air flow. There were a lot of plum curculios, though! Which really surprised me! That tree doesn't have fruit this year, because I didn't fight against the curculios in the spring. So every single fruit got infested and fell off. But even fruitless, curculios were crawling out of the bucket where I was putting all the branches. I wonder if they are the babies that came from the fallen fruit, and they hang out in the tree? I need to read more about them unless someone tells me.
