Good morning gardeners. We got another good rain overnight. The temp was 55F when I got up this morning. Only a few peas to pick this morning and a small zucchini. I picked the zucchini because there are another 4 developing and I wanted to make room for them. Today is still on the cooler side but the heat wave starts tomorrow so I'll likely pull the peas tomorrow morning. I managed to get my backyard mowed yesterday. I waited until 2 PM and the grass was still a little wet. But it's done for now. Plan on mowing the front yard tomorrow. I don't mind riding the big mower on hot days. It's really fun. I may have some okra developing as well @NewBoots. The plant that bloomed, albeit briefly, has what could be baby okras on it. The other plant is getting ready to bloom and I hoping the flower lasts long enough to get a picture. I need to spray my Cortland apple tree. I trimmed part of a branch that was infested with bugs that were spinning webs which I don't think were spiders. Like I said yesterday, this is the year of the bugs. I just make squash fritters and zucchini bread to freeze @karenerwin. I've tried several ways to freeze it and it just turns into a mushy pulp. The potatoes look great @adirondak5. Were the leaves turning yellow and dying off when you dug them up? I'm not sure of the variety I planted. This is my first time and I used grocery store potatoes that started going to seed on top of my refrigerator. They are the smaller sized, thin skin white potatoes. I've been tempted to look for new potatoes but I'm trying to work on my "patience" this summer. The melons look great @Acre4Me. It takes me two weeks to consume a normal medium sized melon, so I don't grow them. I don't remember where I bought my quart sized spray bottle, possibly from the Job Lots Store. I've only been in Walmart 3 times since the pandemic started and have't bought much there. Not much planned for the garden today. Will likely do some of the monthly shopping. The potatoes look great @adirondak5. Were the leaves turning yellow and dying off when you dug them up? I'm not sure of the variety I planted. Thank You much . Yes , the leaves are yellowed and starting to die off . I did order the seed potatoes online in March but the Covid struck and they ended up being a no show/paypal refund . Luckily I found some at Tractor Supply and grabbed three 5 lbs bags . I didn't want giant bakers or reds so I figured I'd give the Kennebecs a try and from the looks of em I'm glad I did .

Garden concerns!

Cuke #1 - has yellow edges, but still producing. Cause for concern??

The other Cukes look like this - perfectly fine.

Interesting little caterpillar - moved a bit like an inchworm I think. Never seen this before - any ideas? It was found on this squash blossom.

ACK!! My tomato plant is experiencing a problem - what is it? might be spreading to the neighboring plants . @WthrLady - I know you've dealt with tomato issues, any ideas?

It's possibly early blight. Try the epsom salts spray. The sulfur in it helps. I found a really good picture and if you can see concentric "rings" in the brown spots, then it is early blight. Remove the dead leaves and spray once a week. Good luck.

Fed, watered and added some stakes to the pepper plants that want to fall over. Anybody have thoughts on the onions below...they just don't seem to be developing.


Got our first Cuke last weekend and now have several that have doubled in size over the last 2 days.

Back beds looking happy today.

Jalepenos coming in nicely as well.

My onions look pitiful...does anybody have any thoughts on whats going on here? I am hoping I am just being impatient. We did plant a few weeks later than we probably should have.

Sweet potatoes are really taking off...they have only been in for about 3-4 weeks
