What did you do in the garden today?

I think it's getting easier to get them because the mad covid rush in the spring had everyone deciding to hatch as many as they possibly could over the summer. All the places I considered ordering from has started pullets. The farm I ordered from doesn't get great reviews, but it's all about their demeanor, not the quality of their chickens & I don't particularly like dealing with people either so I get it. HA! We'll see how it goes.
Are you sure we’re not related? :lau

Chick pics - My they've grown!

Missing one - it is lost, don't know how and haven't found any traces either!

So, our mystery chick is a Salmon Faverolle!

You can start to see the unique comb taking shape in the Buttercups

We suspect a sexing error (a female instead of the male we ordered) - the chick on the left is more female in behavior, also a smaller stature. Hamburgs are trim birds, anyway.

Still super-fluffy!

This one lost his brother - a mystery.

@Nigel27 Beautiful garden, awesome gardening! I would love to know where- what state/zone you are in. It would be helpful to us to start, then all your garden secrets of course...
@Acre4Me OMGOOOODNESS!!!! :loveSuch beautiful and delicious little morsels. I am so sorry for your little MIA and I hope you find the little critter or are able to solve the mystery soon.

Beautiful gardens and harvests all!!!

Aloha gardeners!
I yanked out most all of my heat stricken plants the other day and am letting my little chicks play in the proofed beds this morning. They get pretty happy about the field trips and behave the rest of the day if I give them a few hours in the box.
My wheels are turning and I am rethinking my little garden space. IDK... maybe it is just my summertime blues and I should just let it pass... thinking maybe just fruit trees and a BBQ space like DH wants. Maybe switch to winter container gardening for awhile. Hmmm 🤔
We went up Koke'e the other day. So peaceful cool and LOVELY. Not sure why I came down... Oh yeah, chickens and horses. I'd love to clear some more forest and make a pen and some more grazing space and a BIG coop so we could bring the monsters up for the summer. Dream, dream, dream. The place is a sea of Kahili ginger and the sweet smell just hits you as soon as you open the car door. The quiet is deafening except for the birds. No tourists, no helicopters, only local hunters and families at the park thank goodness, giving this place some time to heal.

The normally shy deer are coming up and munching on the Agapanthus and they ate ALL of my lily blooms. Stinkers

Well, we did not mow or walk or picnic. Just a couple of sweet white peaches and a cup of Joe. Guess we will have to head back up in a few days. ;)
Not sure if I had shared these photos yet. 7 chicks in a bowl of sand. Been a busy few days.

Such little weirdos. Well, folks. Love the recipe swaps, really love the Zuch chips, up my alley.
I love Ulu chips, or breadfruit chips. So ono! So will try the Zucchini ones for sure.
Have a wonderful day all!! Stay well, get dirty and enjoy!!!
