What did you do in the garden today?

Good afternoon gardeners. Nothing in the garden today. I checked the weather because we’re in the 90s and it’s supposed to be 97 tomorrow! Then we get a 20 degree drop over the weekend and a bit cooler even next week. That’ll be good for cool season crops so definitely planting greens, carrots and garlic. Finally! I candled all the eggs last night and can see veins in two. I left them all in the incubator and will candle again Friday.

Does anyone here grow rutabagas? I'm not sure when to pull them. I covered them with straw & then leaves, I'm hoping to leave them as long as possible as I think they got a very late start & are small.

I have to pull the dahlia bulbs too & get them winterized. They should get a 2nd burst of cold tonight, that ought to do it.
LOL I had not thought about Rutabagas in years. When we first married, I tried different foods out on the hubby. I cooked some rutabagas one night as a side dish. Oh how he bragged on them. So, the next time I saw them on sale, I got a bunch. While we were eating, he asked if I had any flavored butter or anything to kill the taste. He apparently hated them, but didn't want to hurt my feelings. We laughed about that for 25 years.

That is hysterical! I'm not a huge fan either, I use them in place of taters in a stew or soup & I pick most out but DH eats them. In all honesty I don't actually enjoy ANY veggies so I cook the ones I can almost tolerate.

Morning all. Have a great day!

Morning . Did a few things outside but got really tired . We sleep a lot with this covid . I have felt a lot worse with a cold or flu . Better news I hatched 13 chicks Tuesday .

OMG I would have a stroke.
My dad's place is the same size house was built in 1976, and their taxes are $12,000 a year. INSANE.
Mine are "only" $7000 a year, with a large house and quite a chunk of land. OC we aren't supporting any service that we have access to either. Which kind of ticks me off that the money is going to things that are local, but voting about it is all we can do besides writing a check.
