What did you do in the garden today?

I made a big pot of chili with some of the ground venison. Then I noticed that the rack of deer ribs were still in my refrigerator.
I meant to take them to my son’s house yesterday.
Oh, well, I managed to get them into the freezer.
My daughter in law really liked the pendant and necklace!!
No work in the garden today as it was my work at work day.
I did ask my coworker and her boyfriend if he planned to tan the deer hide with the hair or without. He said either, but he acted like he didn’t know that their was a way to remove the hair. So any secret family formulas for tanning deer hide with or without hair and making the hide soft would be greatly appreciated!
I did pass on the story about give it to a 6 year old to play with!

Been too long since I've done it.
There's a simple chemical you soak it in and then you scrape it off and rinsed. It stinks and it takes work. Then the hide needs stretched and dried. then to make it soft it needs worked.

and it soaks a LONG time..like a month.
People used to then roll them up and pack it in horse manure for a month before scraping.
LOL. THat's not so handy.

My only tip is to work the heck out of the leather as it dries. Stretch it, rub it, bend it, break it. I throw my bunny hides in the dryer with no heat and some tennis balls and it helps do some of it for me, but not enough. People used to chew on them (yuck don't do that). Run them over the back of a chair over and over. It's a lot of elbow grease.

Update: Same friend has named the science plant Rory. No idea why.

No clue on Rory, but Cucumber looks a lot like certain species of Sea Cucumber.

Noticed that we have a bunch of the baby spider plants that are growing roots in some water. Might haveto claim one and plant it.

Better grab one and give it a name before your friends do!
Call it Wolfie (after the big but harmless Wolf Spider.)

Morning all. Nothing happening in the garden, except I noticed a couple garlic shoots popping up. It's just been too warm, it thinks it needs to grow. Weather looks back to normal now though.

Got the littles coop all cleaned out & now we're putting in the auto door & a window today, can't wait for that to be done. Though I'll still have to get out there every morning anyway till they finish the corid. 1 more week of quarantine.
