What did you do in the garden today?

Our flower bulbs in the bed out front seem confused. They are sprouting early.

I also for around to pumping or the duck pond. I had to chop the ice with an ax. It was 4-5 inches thick. I pumped the water over the winterized garden beds and put some on the compost piles to innoculate them with bacteria from the mucky pond water.

Hope you are doing better @WthrLady !

ordered chicks for pick up in Feb!!

AND.....

6 turkey poults, Bourbon Red.

not sure if we need a separate brooder for the turkey poults, or if they can share the same space for a couple of weeks with the chicks. I know I need turkey starter for them.

chicks will teach them to eat and drink. but when they do learn it, it would be better to separate them.

a few tomatoes sprouted in my garden (I don't know where they came from). as we expect some snow and a few freezing hours - that would be enough to kill the plants, I plan to pick them from the garden and transplant. then I have to collect all the flowerpots that should be protected.

we had some snow 6 years ago. the last 2 winters we did not have any freezing temperatures. so I am going to by some BOSS for my chickens as well. and I need to do something about wet mud in the duck's coop. we still are in a lockdown so there are no pineshavings. I have to invent something.

Do you have fallen leaves? They could help with the mud in the duck run. Straw works too if you can get it.

Morning gardeners. All this talk of more eggs is exciting! I have some freeloaders that need to read this thread & get a move on...

@Acre4Me I ordered the hoops from Amazon, they were pretty cheap, I don't have a big area I want to do, just some lettuce. Turkeys, eh? Cool!

@WthrLady I hope you have a better day today, you've had a few rough ones. :hugs

Took me over an hour but I finally got my parents signed up for their COVID vaccines, can't wait to be able to go visit them again. :yesss:
