What did you do in the garden today?

Good afternoon gardeners. All I did outside today was put HWC on the bottom half of the divider in the duck house. It’s cloudy, gloomy and dark but not terribly cold or windy. I’m just not in the mood to get out there today. The kitchen needs to be cleaned up some before I make dinner. I boiled all the water out of the green beans last night so probably ruined the pan. I don’t even think I’m going to bother with it because I’m just that irritated. Hubs is home for the rest of the week. He was teaching at a remote location last week and went back to campus for classroom this week. Found out the instructor who took over the class in that room last Thursday was sick and has tested positive for Covid. Fortunately all the students were wearing masks and hubs sanitized the desk, computer and chair before he used anything in there today.

I see this is an old post but....Right now its winter 2021. I grow in my greenhouse. Tweeking the heater system. All my greens are stunted because the temp was dropping too low. I was planning on having greens for the chickens but it's not going so good right now. In spring, we will prepare it better for next winter. It needs better insulation. It's an 8 x 12. Pictured to the left.

The original post might be old but there’s daily activity here. Welcome!

I got Mama bunny moved into her new digs, an old tractor style chicken coop. We raised it off the ground so that the base is about armpit high for me. She hasn't checked out the ramp to the penthouse yet ( at least not that I have seen) but she seems to be liking the new bigger living space! I gave her and the other bunny ( 3 month old boy in another old tractor style chicken coop) a small piece of banana. The young bunny (Peanut) LOVED IT! Mama took a long time before she even decided to taste it, but I did notice later that it was all gone.

Went to our local farm store to buy egg layer pellets but they were all out. I did find some potato starts and onion sets, so I went ahead and got some of each since I waited too long last year and missed out completely!

My son and his wife and the youngest of their kids drove up with the U Haul ( still packed) of stuff from his dad's apartment in Florida. He said they couldn't find a storage unit for a reasonable amount so they brought it all up my way. I found them a 5 x 10 for $42 a month. I helped him unload it all and then we went to drop off the U Haul. The lady was just pulling out as we drove in at 6. They closed at 6. 😒 Son couldn't find the 3 digit code to do the remote drop off so I had them leave it there and I will go back in the morning to check it in. They still had a 3 hour drive to get back to their house (once we got back to my house to get their van).
I think they probably have another 1.5 to 2 hours left on their drive home.

I did "heel in" some young trees ( 12 to 18 inch tall "trees") in the garden a week or 2 ago. I need to get out there and see how they are doing.

Aren't you supposed to wait until after the last chance of frost before you plant out onion sets and potato eyes (straight into the garden)?

Going back to Poplar Bluff on Wednesday to hear another bid for the foundation work we need done. Hopefully, this company will make a reasonable bid!! :fl
My dear hubby keeps talking about doing some of the pier-ing work himself and while he is an incredibly smart man he has no experience with that type of work. I feel like there is a BIG difference between understanding how to do something and actually being able to do it well.

It may depend on your area you may be able to plant them after the last frost if your summers are very cool but here we plant them with the peas about 8 weeks before the last frost. You do have to protect potatoes from frost if they’re above ground when a frost comes though.
