What did you do in the garden today?

No planting but I did take a walk around the garden yesterday. The snow is melting away from the big garden finally and I can see the asparagus bed. The thyme and lavender in one of the herb gardens are looking perky and green. I let my rooster Randy out with the ladies in the afternoon and he was quite well behaved. He is still on probation so I let him stay with them in the big coop overnight. Knock on wood, all seems well so far. I finally finished cleaning the sunroom, then steam cleaned my dining room floor and the uncarpeted area in the living room. The temps are forecasted to be in the low 60's today so I'm painting the wainscoting in the hallway then cleaning the blinds and the windows in my bedroom. I'll steam the floor if there's enough time. It's my turn to cook tonight. The temps here are supposed to get more normal in a couple of days. I can deal with 40's but I would prefer not to have any more snow @Sueby. I've had quite enough for one season, I'm ready for Spring.

@Wee Farmer Sarah - remember I was out west for all the big snow here, so I haven't really had my share yet! LOL. Speaking of herbs, NONE of mine are looking any good. I'm positive the thyme & lavender died, the sage & mint aren't looking hopeful either. I'm going to cut them all back & see if anything pops up. Some winters they make it, some they don't.

Not many of my herbs start off with green leaves and there is still quite a bit of snow covering the herb gardens. The mint always dies back but does rebound. My large patch of thyme is in the other bed that is still covered as well as the chives. I'm sure my oregano made it, but it's still too soon to tell. I did buy more parsley seeds to plant more of that. My large dish of impatiens has overwintered in the sunroom quite well. The smaller plant with the lovely rose like blooms is sadly failing. The leaves are gone, but I'm hoping to keep the roots alive.

True on the mint, it probably made it as it's hard to kill mint!

My smallest is trying to earn "monies" for his new piggy bank, so yesterday I helped him gather up rocks in the yard as a "big job for monies." We filled his tiny wagon twice, and it's making for a cute flower bed border.

@Elyrian1 I would love one last snow storm! Just because I know in March it won't last. I hear parts of Colorado are going to get absolutely hammered! Good luck, post pics!

It'll probably be on the ground through next weekend, as we won't be getting particularly warm right after. We won't be in the clear on possibility of snow until late May, lol.

And yes, we are in an area that is set to get absolutely hammered. It's probably going to be the worst storm I've seen since winter 2018, when I was 7-8 months pregnant and drove through a blizzard in a dinky little Nissan to get home. The truckers were getting stuck, even with chains, and I was just... cruising along. Turned a 1.5 hour drive into 6 though because nobody could go over 15mph.

Today, unless my pregnant brain forgets, I'm going to pillage the strawberry bed for living runners.

Had quite a few Ozark Beauty strawberry plants escaping from the patch here, so I potted up three flats of 18 each to share with my new next door neighbor as well as a couple of other gardening friends. The second photo is of a "Friend" who crossed my path when I returned from taking the photo. I hope he has an extra heavy coat in his closet for next week.

Morning Gardeners taking slow but inten to plant a bit today

I didn't plant anything, but I did rake up a nice bit of mulch from the summer chicken run area. (We moved them up by the house for the winter.)

I was contemplating putting the coop on the opposite side of the run and lengthening the run this summer. And seeing if hubby could be on board with making the coop just a bit bigger. I mentioned that already and he sounded persuadable...
