What did you do in the garden today?

can youat least put those beans in some pot and let them sprout. you can feed chickens with young plants so that will not be a total waste.
Pretty short on space here & nothing will live outside yet so they will probably have to go in the compost pile. They haven't sprouted yet & I'm going to need the room. I feel guilty wasting anything, but not much I can do. Good excuse to buy a greenhouse? :fl

Cute rocks!!

there are “Kindness Rocks” type fb pages. It’s a thing to paint rocks and leave them here or there for people to find. It’s fun to see them posted - but need to label them first. In my general area I’ve found some rocks from “West Central Ohio Rocks” ( I think that’s the fb page), so we painted some and hid them at some parks in our areas. Some got posted on fb - kids love to see that!
I have seen these around town. People are very talented. I think painting rocks have increased with the pandemic.

My grow lights have not arrived. Kept saying “will arrive by 9pm Sat” yet, hadn’t even shipped. So, yeah, guess I’m going to purchase some other ones, as my order still has not shipped.

still, the most important things arrived. Teen has an event today. Needed a dress. No one is allowing try-ons in store. Teen girls are picky, and 95% of what they try one is “unacceptable”. So we crossed our fingers and ordered 2 dresses from Amazon. Both fit (although teen prefers one). Ordered 2 pairs of shoes, one fit. So, I’ll take event outfit arriving on time over grow lights arriving on time.

Not much happening today. I always try to take a break on Sundays. I did go out and pick the collards and brussel sprouts because I noticed the collards bolting. I left about half the leaves on the collards so they can set seed though. Almost all the daffodils are are done blooming or in full bloom. We just have one type that won’t bloom until April or May here. It blooms around the same time as the breaded Iris.

I don't know if I already posted this, but they've been having so much fun being my gardening crew I’ll risk posting it twice 🤣 Of course in this pic they were taking a break in their newly dug dust bath 🤣View attachment 2569095
Gardening is a lot of work!!

I've heard that we should not prune trees when it is a new moon. not sure if that is true. I always prune around full moon when water is low (in roots). they say that if brunches loose water they will not have fruits.

please keep us posted about the trees you pruned.
You prune fruit trees deep in the freeze, before the sap is even flowing. I do it before the end of January.
