What did you do in the garden today?

I didn't know there WAS such a festival!!!! wow...you must send pictures! :) I would LOVE that!

There are a lot of egg producers in Western Ohio. One town that I happened to drive through a few years ago has a 3-day festival. I just looked them up, and here is this year's advertisement.

I don't think any chicks are sold...more like cooked chicken, and I'm pretty sure they have competitions for Angel Food Cakes and dozen eggs. I'm not very familiar with it, but looked it up after I drove through the town around the poultry days event. It was fun to see all the decorations locals had out. I remember driving by one home with the classic concrete goose - you know the ones people put aprons on? Yeah, it had a chicken costume applied :lau I remember we drove past one of the egg facilities and they were expanding the building enormously - wonder what it looks like now? Guess I'll have to wait until we are in that area again!

I just remembered, I got two boxes of potato's to plant. WHen I ordered them, I was not thinking right about how many '5 lbs of this 2 lb of that 3 of this, really was !! Crap, I have no idea where I am going to put all of these. I might end up just eating some of them, grrr.

Aaron
you're going to have potatoes growing out your ears, and up to your eyeballs

I LOVE POULTRY days!!!!! OMH the splatched chicken on the giant grills! SOOOO amazing! I did the angel food cake contest one year :P That town knows how to party.

Bolted into town to grab stuff for another shelf, which I will paint before I even cut the lumber. I didn't paint the first one before assembly, what a pain in the butt to paint.

I was going to have the whole day for building but had a last second, literally as I was walking out the door, Zoom meeting scheduled for 1-2, which meant I had to fly to town, grab what I needed and fly back. When I got back at 1250, you guessed it, they never initiated the *&^% meeting. I was so annoyed.

So second coat of one coat paint on shelf #1 ::rolleye:

Chicks are being seriously goofy.
Creeping up on two inches of rain.

Also grabbed two more lights at HDepot and will convert another shelf that is holding supplies to a seeding spot until the greenhouse gets warm enough.

I guess I'll have to go this year! I do love grilled chicken, and I looked at some of the website, so.... might be in my future plans!

Tractor is fixed and back home . Just showed up . So no idea what it was or what the cost is . Guess they will mail the bill .
They didn't tell you what was wrong before they fixed it to let you know how much it would be?! That could be scary. Let me know what it was.

Rain on and off today. Everything is wet. The next 3 days are rain too. I need to level part of the yard where the ground is high and there's an old flower bed In taking out. I cannot do that work when the ground is soaked.

I am going to try to get some cucumbers, zucchini, and replacement brussels sprouts started tonight. The only problem is I don't have anywhere to put the seed trays. I'm thinking the San Marzano tomato starts are getting moved to the sun room. They are pretty big and reaching above the grow lights, so it's probably best to move them anyway. I may move the prairie onion starts as well into the sunroom. They are growing, but so darn slow. I also need to remove some of the marigolds that died while we we're out of town. Or maybe I'll replant seeds in them.

If it's just topsoil, mix in a good amount of compost, peat moss, and even sand to keep the soil loose. Otherwise you may find after it gets wet and then dries it will get dense and hard, which isn't ideal for most things to grow. Just my $.02.
According to them it is made up of screened soil, sand and leaf hummus. I did grab some of my leaf litter from fall, but forgot the perlite. I will have to get that mixed in. It’s an excellent point, because thats exactly what I accidentally did last year to my containers. It ended up nearly concrete 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️
