What did you do in the garden today?

You guys are contagious . I smashed my finger now too. Hurts like crud. I only caught it in the cabinet drawer so i must've hit it just right. My nail got dented and the pads swollen and a bit bruised.
How are everyone else's booboos?

How long should I have to wait to see the potatoes sprout? I planted a bit deeper than the usual 4”, but not as deep as @BReeder! says he does. I dont want to keep waiting if I ruined them. I did take a picture today but its just the wet bed and I tried to get a pic View attachment 2653799of the peas, but I dont know how well you can see them. View attachment 2653798

My potatoes took 5-6 weeks which is much longer than normal the majority still came up. Though It’s worth noting that early spring was pretty dry here though and the new garden is on top of a sandy hill so they didn’t get much of a chance to rot.

We were supposed to have a few days of clear weather so I put part of the tomato trellis back up but we are currently having a freak wind storm that dropped out of Tennessee. So I doubt that’s still upright.

I found a baby rat snake in the mouse cage I was using to catch the mice eating the chicken feed. So, fun!

Hello everyone! Today in the garden I got some lettuce seedlings from a friend. A couple of them are down below.

Also, the first of my indoor lettuce seeds sprouted!

And, I can see a couple of them about to sprout. They are inside the seed, about to break out kind of which I thought was really cool!

Anyways, that's all that happened today in the garden!

Today, more weeding a little planting and sewing seeds, more allergies(although masks help a lot. who knew?) and then a little yart project. Been wanting to make a bowling ball lady bug for a while now and today was the day. I had the bowling balls I had picked up for my goats to push around but the aren't that interested so I took one of them and painted her up. Now I just need to find the right place for her. I have a couple more bowling balls so I may make her some friends. I'm hoping they will send a message to the aphids.

Weather says we might get down to 34 in a few nights. Should I worry about frost?
I really was not expecting frost this late. Almost everybody here puts plants out between May 1st and Mothers Day. The weather is so bizarre this year.
I've been planting things outside over the last few weeks. I have peppers and tomatoes with flower buds on them already. Most are established fairly well. I'm hoping that helps them pull through if there is a frost. I also have young cucumber plants that are n barely more than seedlings with only one real life on many of them. Also my potatoes are sprouting above ground. The taller is a few inches already. All of these are not frost hardy, and I am not sure I can cover them all either... feeling a but worried.

It’s always so hard to know if your gonna get hit with a frost these days, the weather is really changing everywhere. I don’t ever plant stuff into outside gardens until June in my zone so I have some hoop houses to be able to get things going sooner and extend my growing season. Outside I cover anything I really care about if the temps start to dip too low. A tomato cage and a sheet or plastic garbage bag works for temporary protection . Good luck!
