What did you do in the garden today?

Glyness is a pretty girl & has had it good. ❤️
Thanks @Sueby, it was hard to do but it's done now. Glyness was incredibly fat both inside and out. Still had tiny egg follicles in her but just far too fat to be able to lay I guess. She seems to have been the only one with the weight problem but DP thinks I give them too many treats. Now that they free-range so much I don't have to feed them anywhere nearly so much and the exercise should also help. I think Glyness was like a lot of us, we convert too much of our feed into fat. I'm going to keep her picture as my avatar for now, she was a sweet girl.

Share pictures of your garden; I would love to see them.
Your garden sounds lovely, please post pics!

I did the garden watering and critter food and water gig, now I think I'll take the littles out to the yard and put them in the cat-safe playpen and enjoy their antics. Next week I'll start the work on the run extension, I need to figure out how to make a door that can be adjustable to keep the big girls out for now but can be opened wider later.

Last night was the LAST NIGHT of covering up strawberries and tomato plants to protect them from frost. Really, this time it better be for real!

We split wood for several hours today, until the gas can was empty. So tomorrow is planting day. I need to dig a bunch of extra big holes for the starts, add egg shells, greensand, and some soggy cardboard bits. The starts I planted (that came up, that is) are BIG this year. Ok, not the peppers. For some reason, my pepper starts never do very well. I'll still plant them, but I did buy some peppers to be sure we get some.

I hope to have a report of sore muscles, but not too sore, and an empty dog crate. I use the dog crate to harden off starts, but it's also my brooder. Chicks next Saturday!!!

@igorsMistress I made Rosemary focaccia last night using trimmings from my little plant. I'm trying not to eat too much bread/carbs, but maybe my new rule should be just the bread I make myself. This recipe makes a lot, but my husband and teenage son will help me eat it :) I like to add red pepper flakes and sometimes dried italian herbs.
That sounds delicious! We use rosemary on beef quite a bit. I add it to burgers, rub it on roasts, mix it with ricotta cheese for a white pizza.

two of the 4 that blew me off yesterday asked if they could come today...sure why not...

Came across this great LOC photo today.

She looks hot and tired after all that work. I love the old photos, thanks for sharing!

Good morning gardeners. The deluge is finally ending. We've had over 3 inches of rain these past three days. Everything is pretty soggy and the temps yesterday only got into the low 50's. The pellet stove is still going, but hopefully will be all done later when the temps dance their way to 60F. I had picked a bag of young kale, arugula and chard the other day. Washed and trimmed is was 1/4 pound. I tossed a couple of fresh romaine leaves in it this morning for another salad this afternoon or later for dinner. The garden is doing well except for the lima beans. I'm really hoping they get going when the temps warm up. I may try to clean up the corn patch and butternut squash hills this afternoon while the hens are out on their afternoon "free ranging." Laundry today then a quick trip to the discount store. DD saw a big Red Fox this morning while she was walking her dog. Good news, the fox ran away when it saw them. Now I know the likely source of the scat left near and around the chicken yard I have noticed recently.
