Just delivered 10 flats of tomatoes.
SUPER nice guy in the next village. Sold the whole mess for $20!
He was so impressed by their quality that he said he'd bookmark my info for full price and reservations next year. BONUS
The greenhouse is now totally empty and closed (not sealed), but closed for business.

Now we play keep everything in the ground alive. LOL

While I was out I saw some were out cutting and baling hay already. It's 3 weeks early!
I KNEW our hay was thick, but phew. I'm going to hold off until the end of June. I'd like a little dryer product. Right now it's so full and wet internally, it's not what I need for the boys, and with chances of rain coming up, it's not good weather anyway.

One of the most painful experiences known to man: a single lego brick stepped on, in the dark, middle of the night.... kids asleep cant scream...cant see the stupid brick, and don't know how many others lay in wait..

Good morning all. That poor tom will be devastated @Sueby. My shopping trip took a bit longer than anticipated yesterday. Road construction all around me slowing traffic to stop and go. I got some of the patio stones laid out but still need to finish that off today. It got pretty humid in the afternoon so DD volunteered to mow the backyard grass for me. Scratch that off the list. My bell peppers and okra are growing very slowly as are the summer squash. One of the squash plants keeps producing mini yellow squash. Cute, but not productive. The cooler type crops are doing better and when the impending heatwave hits us this weekend the romaine lettuce should be a somewhat respectable size to pick. I did spread fertilizer around on my garden walk and did a little grooming of the carrot and kale patch. I'm tossing around the idea to direct seed more summer squash plants. I had to go to Tractor Supply to pick up scratch and shavings and found a really cute planter on sale. I couldn't resist. I downloaded a few pictures for your enjoyment.

Rained most of the day. But no thunderstorms as predicted.

Walked the garden during a lull. Nearly everything has sprouted.


Here are the lentil sprouts. The "French Green" are in the upper half, and "Black Beluga" are in the bottom half. Clearly good germination and I'll need to thin them out! Never grown lentils - so, new to me!

Here is the Compost bin. Bins are 6' x 4'.
Far left - new stuff beginning this past winter.
Middle bin: from last spring to late fall. It's looking pretty good! I just turned it a couple of days ago and applied "compost starter" microbes since it has warmed up for good. Those plants sprouted in the last 2 days!
Far right bin: Stuff I'm using now. Not 100% dirt, but I remove any sticks/chuncks, and break apart any clumps. Its a bit chunky, but mostly broken down. It is stuff from 2019.

Hi everyone. Your gardens are looking lovely! Mine are showing the impact of heat and wind. The ducks ate one of the geranium plants and the other two don’t look very happy. I’m happy that the lilac is doing well though, it has flowers on it already and it’s definitely growing. The other little tree thing that turns purple in winter is still hanging in there. I think maybe I should have trimmed a bit more from it when I cut off the top, but it’s standing upright with a stake next to it for now and seems much stronger than it was a few months ago. Hubs works Saturday so I’ll get a chance to fertilize everything. Still have Armenian cukes, watermelon and jalapeños in the garden. Carrots as well but holding off picking those for a while yet. Have a great afternoon all.

Cant remember who has the runoff in their yard?

We get RUNOFF through the entire length of our yard. Between our yard and neighbor. Storm drain under the road.

Today we have ducks enjoying the flowing water. Its the first time I've seen ducks there.

There is a big drain just out of the picture - owned by the farmer. However, farmer plowed over the ENTIRE waterway through the field to plant his stuff. So, water doesn't flow as well as it should. generally not a good idea: Bye Bye topsoil.

Put in some time and oversized effort, made a dent in the nightshade removal. Those things have some dang roots on them though. Wore a glove on hand, had a hand trowel in the other. Used the trowel to pry around the root a bit, get about three inches deep, then pull up with the gloved hand and chuck it in a trash bag. No sitting around either, straight into the dumpster they went! Washed the glove, washed the trowel, and washed both arms to the elbow when I was done. Nightshade freaks me out, even though I passed one house today where they had their 8 year old kid out front weeding the things with gloves on. Ah well, better to overkill on prevention than... you know, keel over.

Not sure when or how I'll get the rest. Found out that squatting is now very uncomfortable. Overnight practically. My suspicion is that I'll be working on it for a while, and that DH may have to finish the project.
