What did you do in the garden today?

Rain all week here. Maybe @Sally PB it’ll be in your area too.

my 9 chickens sold for $85!! Most were 2 year olds, a couple were 1.5 years olds. Had 2 Marans in the mix -guessing they may have gotten more bids-won’t know until I get the check (comes with individual selling prices -but no ID between breeds).

The turkeys are getting so big!!

I'll try that recipe. I sprayed with bee killer but I don't like using that stuff & it didn't help anyway! The spot is right above the windows & nest boxes so your recipe makes me feel better.

Not much going on in the garden, too hot, back to work & have an appt with the rheumatologist. I did spray the peppers with some epsom salts yesterday hoping to perk them up a bit. I'm going to try feeding them too, maybe that'll help. I just can't figure out why they aren't happy. :idunno Everything else could probably use a good feeding too.

Stay cool everyone! 🥶
They also don't like paint and stain, so that's an option. fill the old holes (Clean them out with a screwdriver first) and paint.

I'm dreading the walk out to the garden. There's already a haze of moisture/humidity and pollen. I'm still stuffy from yesterday. But it does need eyes laid on it.

I cleaned the rest of the house carpet with the machine right as everyone went to bed last night so no one would be walking on it while it dried. So that's done.

But I need to check the start time on the irrigation system. It was starting slow this morning instead of 4am. It waters half the yard one day and half the next. No rain for the past week or the next so I'm trying to keep it from frying before it's time, but only because there is new seed down.

All the fabric for the quilt project is ironed.
All the fabric for the 1840s dresses is not.
The pattern for the dress maker's dummy is processing as we speak, but the fabric isn't here yet.
I'll work on that before the dresses, so I can drape on it.
But the quilt I can work on as soon as the new ruler I ordered gets here today.

So until all the bits and bobs arrive, I'll clean and organize the room, which is needed.

Hope you can all get a little dirt under your nails today.

Good morning gardeners. Hot and sticky already. Turned the AC back on after feeding the chickens and watering the front yard. The corn is still not tall enough to plant the beans, but hopefully by next week. The baby chicks were a little freaked out when we moved them indoors yesterday but they settled down quick enough. Rather than keep moving their brooder back and forth we decided to let them camp out in the sunroom until Wednesday morning. The shade cloth is still working on the lettuce. Thank goodness. I did pick a few lettuce leaves along with some chard and radishes. So there are some fresh salad greens in the fridge to go with the leftover smoked pork. I didn't have enough time to cook it until it was falling apart but it has a nice smoke ring and is tender and tasty. Grilled pizza is on the menu for tonight's dinner. No work planned for outside today other than hanging with the chickens during their "free range" time. Oh, when I began to water the front yard the old garden hose split. I did manage to keep it together long enough to do the watering. Aside from the roses blooming, not much else going on. Enjoy your day.

I was going to put 5 adults up for sale - 2 buff Orpingtons, 2 Ameracaunas, and 1 Black Australorp. All 5 are laying and about 9 months old. Originally purchased from McMurray Hatchery as chicks. I was going to ask $60 for all of them. Hoping mine sell to a good home! So nervous about it....

Since they are under a year old, they should sell well. I took mine to a livestock auction that occurs once a month. They take a 25% cut, but I don’t have to meet up with random people that might not show up via a CL ad or similar

Yep, I put compost in my corn and zucchini. The zucchini plants are huge, but only two harvested. I only see a couple of blooms. Maybe they will pick up when it gets warmer. Have had 8 yellow squash so far and the tomato bushes are full of green tomatoes- :celebrate
