What did you do in the garden today?

Spent about 5 hours out in the garden today. Weeded 3 and a half rows of corn dug the last of the potatoes and the onion. Picked squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, green beans, the first Shelly beans and went blackberry picking for the first time this summer. The sunflowers are finally taller than me. I think they are about 5ft

Last weekend my DH was asking if I'd seen the Roundup because he wants to treat the cracks in the driveway. I always cringe when we use Roundup because it is so bad for the environment. This morning as I was walking down the driveway towards the garden, I wondered about using ACV to treat the grass/weeds instead of Roundup. Have you ever done this?

I made the mistake last year of trying to quickly acidify my soil with ACV for some blueberries I was growing. Inadvertantly killed the blueberries instead. That's when I found out that ACV will kill vegetation pretty quickly if it is not diluted properly.

Sooo.....ACV is lot "kinder" to the environment than Roundup. Wondering if you (or anyone) has ever used ACV instead of Roundup and what the results were?
Not ACV, but did try vinegar with dawn - did not work. Tried some other grass killer last year- supposed to be safe for animals- didn’t work. So, after a year of weed whacking, hoeing and hand pulling grass and weeds from the sitting area, shed landing and along the fence, I caved and used Round up- so far, just on the bricks in my sitting area.

@Artichoke Lover I'm so jealous of your blackberries! Man I wish I had a big patch of them going strong already.

Nothing today, just upkeep.
This is actually just a crazy wild patch. They pop up anywhere that isn’t tilled or mowed at least once a month. I certainly don’t mind though since these are pretty sweet. I actually don’t like the cultivated ones and only have a bush for my mom.

Are those blackberries? They look like wild raspberries... I have both but our blackberries aren't usually ripe until early July. Our wild raspberries are getting ripe but they have a bitter after taste which is very disappointing. DH wonders if they would be decent with sugar added but I'm still not convinced yet. Might try a batch of seedless jam but I'm going to be annoyed if I spend all that effort and the end product still isn't very good.

These are definitely blackberries they don’t have the hollow core that raspberries do. I’d love to have wild raspberries though. I’ve officially given up on growing raspberries I’ve killed over $100 worth of them now.

Picked my first strawberries this afternoon! Just planted the strawberry bed a few weeks ago and already getting stuff to eat. Very nice.

Seascape everbearing strawberries. About the same size as the ones I picked today. Not a pic from my actual garden. Anyway, the Seascape strawberries are very tasty.

:sick What's not so nice is that I'm under the weather with a very bad summer cold. Was going to take and post a few pics from my garden, but just not up to anything these past few days. It's all I can do just to turn on the water sprinkler and muster up enough strength to go back and shut it off later. All other projects on hold...
