What did you do in the garden today?

I came across this article about spraying milk on your pasture. I want to try it. DH thinks I'm nuts... There is a dairy farm in the next town over. I don't know the owner or if they would sell me some unpasteurized milk for the experiment but worst they could say is no, right? DH thinks it will kill the grass or make our horses sick.

What do you think?

I would worry about horses. milk on pasture does not sound natural. I am trying to listen to the nature and it says no. my opinion.

Harvesting some pea shoots/pods, broad beans, basil, broccoli, and etc. Can't wait to use them for today's dinner.

Cucumbers are also coming!

I just bought one of those bag fly traps on Amazon, it seems to be working pretty good - we were sitting on the deck last night & no flies in sight.

@Acre4Me so weird on the eye! I hope you're feeling better.

@Sueby, I agree about the red hydrant, but would be inclined to take a wire brush to the engine and just clear coat it. Keep some of the patina.
I love that idea!! I do love the patina on it. & I can't picture the fire hydrant anything but fire engine red. Thanks all!
Aloe plant at the farmers market. Any tips to keep it alive lol?
They are pretty easy to care for. I've had this one for 20 years or so, it was from my grandmother. They do tend to get sooo large they kind of fall out of the pot so when that happens I just start a new plant from some of the smaller pups (this is probably the 3rd version of this plant). I water it every couple of weeks, it's in a west facing window. When I start a new plant I start in the largest pot I can - they are very hard to up pot!

So still hot & humid. Nothing happening in the garden today, but will take a walk thru soon.

Shh. I met a "dealer" today and bought 2 dozen hatching eggs
So... doing egg deals on the sly, huh? :lau

We have pea soup fog right now. More rain on the way. It won't be dry enough to hang laundry out until Friday, and I really don't want to run the dryer, so I've been wearing the same grubby pair of garden pants when I garden, which isn't too often because of the rain. Vicious cycle.

I'm glad next weekend is a 3 day weekend for DH. He's grumpy about the projects he's not getting done because it's too wet.

I feel like I’m having an allergic reaction to something this morning. It does make much sense since I haven’t been exposed to any of my known allergens or anything new in the past 24 hours. Will probably stick close to the house for the rest of the day incase I start having breathing issues.
I live in a house that is over 100 years old. I do have allergies that flare up from different things. One thing to check is your furnace filter. Being in an old house, a mouse sometimes gets stuck and my allergies flare up, even if the furnace or air conditioning is off.

Morning!!
A great rain yesterday! Guessing an inch-garden looks so happy today. More rain possible tonight. Hot day today. But, our fellow gardeners in the PNW (like @penny1960 ) have one last day of awful heat. Some relatives are in the PNW this weekend/week. I’ll be interested to hear their experiences. I lived in the Tacoma area many years ago, and 90 is HOT over there, so can’t imagine the 110F plus temps they are experiencing.

@Artichoke Lover hope you don’t have any severe rxn.

@jerryse -hope your health issues are taken care of, and that your recovery is quick!
