What did you do in the garden today?

Oh geez, we have so many moles. We get molehills all over the lawn, field and in the garden. The only way I know to get rid of them that doesn't involve poisoning the whole area is getting a predatory cat or terrier.

Yup my terrier mix keeps the deer and small rodents off the property. No squirrels, chipmunks or bunnies to be seen in the fenced backyard!

If I pinch the tips off my indeterminate tomatoes, will they grow more flowers, or will I only get what is already on there? I'm asking because they are outgrowing their support stakes, and they need to stay close to that size. Is it possible to train them back down the stakes without them breaking? When we move, it won't be as much of an issue, but that could be any day between now and the end of July.
It seems like they grow a few inches every day!

if you throw those seeds when it is raining birds/ants should not get them. my mother told me whenever I sow seeds I should water them straight away or sow them when it is raining.

I never tried to sow WHILE it was raining...but with all of them, I did put seeds out right before it was supposed to rain. Anywhere from a few hours to a day in advance.

if you keep them alive they will bloom when the temperature drops. I do that with tomatoes and some of them even overwinter.

The rest of the plant is green and still growing very well. It's just dropping flowers right and left, leaving only a bare stem. I looked up what might be causing this and the likely source was high heat. I don't see any pests or symptoms of pest/disease on the leaves. Just dropping flowers. We've had a really dry month. It's "rained" a handful of times in the past 3-4 weeks but only like .01 inches each time....yeah, barely enough to wet the ground. It's supposed to stay like that for the foreseeable future. I've been watering the garden with the hose every other day. I water my "inground" garden (such as the beans) through pvc pipes under the ground. However, part of me wonders if I need to leave the hose attached to the pipe longer than I have been. I have 5 separate pipes (each 20ft long) and each one has the hose attached for approximately 1.5 minutes. Maybe they aren't getting enough water....which could ALSO cause flower drop.

MOLES!

tunnels, holes and mounded dirt/grass. These are the classic hallmarks of moles? First experience with this pest.

if it is so, then how to get rid of moles?

Moles are the bane of my backyard and chicken yards. We have tons of them....and they drive my dog insane so she has dug so many holes and trenches that it would put a WW2 battalion to shame. I keep expecting to look outside and see her in an army helmet throwing grenades from the trenches she has dug.....

I don't want to put down poison because of the animals.... I tried some other stuff which is non-toxic, but it didn't work.

Said I would get photos this morning she gave me 5 silkie in case one passed. All made it at least this first night.

Yup train them over. I train mine to the next spot over. As long as you don't snap them, they'll keep going.

Those little currant cherry tomatoes I started from seed this year and sold are a HUGE hit! they are TINY! About the size of a pea(or a nightshade berry, which tomatoes are cousin to). People are loving them for salads and for tossing in veggies, like greenbeans. They are stinking cute!
I am definitely planting more next year.
DH said they're more tomato-y than cherry tomatoes, which are sweet.

We also grew currant tomatoes this year. lots of little tiny tomatoes, but still all green!

These are on the deck bc we figured close to where we make lunches, easy to grab and go.

I think that manure can help when plants are dropping flowers (unless heat is a problem). I would dilute some manure in water and water plants. it saved my plants and even trees a few times.
