What did you do in the garden today?

Yes! I put the leaf/worm/eggs back under the shade in the potato plot - the hornworm wasn't moving much, and it certainly wasn't eating. So, It can fulfill its new destiny as a nursery.
I had one with eggs all over it last year & I watched it for a couple weeks, it didn't die or move or eat the entire time. I don't honestly remember what happened to it, but I thought it would have happened quicker! LOL

Can you thaw it just enough to use a melon baller?
I'd like to know this too, I haven't started long term storage of my garlic yet.
Good idea, but I just did a half a jar so I'll probably just use it as is & do the new stuff in little piles from now on. I don't think there's enough to bother, but it's good to know how to not do it! :gig

I treated the powdery mildew again with milk, it helped but didn't fix the issue a few days ago. I have some sungold tomatoes turning red. Gave away a bunch of cukes to co-workers.

I'm preparing to make a low sugar jam tomorrow & will throw in a few jars of pickles too - sliced for sandwiches. :drool

I have a really nice stick blender that I use for making salad dressing (and a bunch of other things) and it adds a little air to what it blends. I'm wondering if that added air would make the blended oil and garlic a little easier to scoop.

I used a magic bullet, the oil was just about white when I was done so I thought it would be good. :idunno I'd say give it a try with a test chunk first maybe?

My neighbor sent me a pic of the bear walking down the street right in front of my house. 😱 That's a big boy!

Does anyone know how to dry hydrangea flowers? I tried last year & they just shriveled up & looked awful. They're so pretty, I'd love to save some.
My wife dried some a few yrs ago and i believe all she did was hang them upside down from a doorway or a window sill for a while. They have lasted atleast 6-7 yrs.

That's exactly what I did & they shriveled up into nothing & looked awful. I wish they would have come out like your wifes!

It rained last night and more to come today, so, will not be watering the garden for a couple of days, at least!

in other garden news, my spouse wants to put in another large “raised” bed. Raised in the sense we would get a truckload delivered on top of the ground. Hmmm…I’m on the fence with the idea. More space to garden, but more space to weed. It also reduces our yard area.

They sell silica dessicants for flowers at craft stores and on Amazon. Supposedly they allow the color to remain too. Looks like people either love or hate them according to the reviews. It is probably the same color changing re-usable stuff I put in closets to reduce moisture.
