What did you do in the garden today?

Raining off and on again today, I'll run out and pick the last of the usable green tomatoes for one more batch of relish. Yesterday I washed, dried, and carefully packed with brown paper the last of the tomatoes that had color but no rotten spots. Once the last of the plants are pulled, I'd love to let the girls lose in the raised beds. They spend nearly the whole day in the new exposed run, it looks like I had professionals till it.

Parsnips: to pull or not to pull? Tis the question.
I still have tons of marigolds too. I need to harvest some of the seeds for next year.
I have straw now, so I need to put some around the strawberries. I just spread a whole bale on the duck pen.

you can leave parsnips. I've heard they get big on their second year.

When I did parsnips I left them in for a good couple frosts - that's what I had read to do.

Raining here today so nothing happening. My shallot sets seem to be lost in FedEx land still.

I would love to let my girls out into the garden but it's far from the run so I'd have to carry them & they freak out when I go to pick them up, it's always a chase. & then there's the hawk that been hanging around for the last month...

Forecast for freezing temps here next week too and first frost advisory was this week. In preparation, we harvested as much as possible and put partially ripe peppers in a bag with over ripe banana. Will work on processing through the week as ready and time allows.

Good morning gardeners! Today I’m finally getting outside to do a few things, so excited! The oldest GS is going to help me lay a few blocks to finish off the shallow bed in the garden so we can plant carrots. I need to spread straw in the quack shack and transplant a few things also. The weather is cool in the mornings and mid 80s during the day right now ❤️
The hydroponic garden currently has three tomato sprouts but I think the thing can only handle one so need to pick one eventually. I have sprouts in all the pods of greens and herbs now but not sure when I should start to harden them off so need to look into that. When do you guys begin that process?
