The recent talk on here of the winter soltice motivated me to make a yule log cake. No gardening and none of the ingredients are from my garden. At least the eggs are from my ducks and chickens. Thought I would share since this thread is why I made it.

Looks yummy. I missed my Yule log fire last night. I’ve been so busy with Christmas preps and making homemade gifts, I fell asleep watching a holiday movie last night. There’s always Christmas Eve. Keep on baking @BReeder!

Definitely missing something.
It's basically a swiss role. Chocolate sponge rolled with creme filling (in my case homemade whipped cream with Andes mint peices) that is covered in a ganach and decorated to look like a log.

Quite a few beds are empty. In the first photo, you can see the backyard. I think some flowers there would be nice. Still have some weeding to do.

good luck with the weeds, I find they are never gone, just thinned out a bit. Got a lot of yard there NICE! Plant edible flowers, that way you get the best of both worlds.

Just to add to your desire, here's a pic of the swirl. We just sliced and ate some for dessert. It's a hit with DW and the kids.
