What did you do in the garden today?

I have always planted onion sets, and they have done at least ok, and sometimes really well. The two types I like are Stuttgarter (yellow) and Red Baron (red), and both are pretty pungent.
I did Stuttgarter last year. They were good and many were large enough to satisfy me. I believe I planted in May though, but that's because I was waiting on Gurneys to ship. I would certainly grow them again and found that they are sold locally as sets in the local chain of ag supply stores.

Stuttgarter are easy to find. The Red Baron were at Meijers 2 years ago, and I tried them just to try a red onion. DH loves them best of all. Meijers didn't have them last year, and I ordered from Gurneys. That experience is why I'm not ordering from Gurneys any more. :duc

What about the stinging nettle?
Sorry for the "angry" reaction, but stinging nettle is brutal stuff! I hate it! It pops up all over the place here, even through 4" of mulch. I pull it and dig it when I can. I'm thinking about burning it this year with a blow torch. I might even get one that connects to propane tank so I can get it real good!

Yeah, once you touch it, it gets annoying. Burn it!

Got the garden mapped out! Ok, mostly. Still some things to add. And I may change my mind on some. The software I found doesn't let me do exactly what I want, but it's good enough.

I ordered a couple small raised beds hoping that my herbs will overwinter better in them than the giant pot with a bottom they're in now. Hoping to do the walking onions in one too.
