What did you do in the garden today?

That's fair. I could see if your garden is smaller how starts make sense.
It pays off for me because ~60 tomato and 32 pepper plant starts would cost me a small fortune here. The cost savings from last year alone paid for the seed starting rack I setup with grow lights. I do still check out the starts at the nurseries and stores come Spring and may pick up a few for variety.

For sure! I do 6 tomato plants, lol. I don't can them anymore, also not worth it here so I stock up on Tuttorosso when on sale. & everything I sow directly I save seeds for (beans, squash, cukes, dill) so it's all free to me - garlic too. I buy tomatoes, peppers & onion starts, that's it. Well except for the stuff I see that I absolutely have to have when buying said starts, of course.

It's the $$ I don't want to spend any more of. The PVC isn't returnable.
Thank for the bending idea, two person isn't an option. DH is unavailable during daylight hours.
I got the T-posts jacked out of the ground. The base is built and squared and leveled.
Not sure I care that it's level, but the hill has one corner off by 7.5 inches, which either needs filled and graded inside and out of the beds or capped to keep soil in the beds. I'm leaning towards just letting it ride the hillside and then when I custom build, I'll build the rest plumb and to the horizon.

I'm designing it to have hoops, or a frame on it later. 2x4s are less expensive than PVC and metal atm.

The winds, dust, and smoke picked up this afternoon.
The loose hens were getting in the way, and picking on the 8 year old hen.
The alpaca kept picking fights with each other.
Then while stepping over the rails, the wind caught the 4 foot level and tossed it between my legs as I was stepping. It scraped up the shin of one leg and calf of the other.
I know when to call it quits for the day.

Upside I got a lot of fresh air and Vitamin D today.

Sorry for the "angry" reaction, but stinging nettle is brutal stuff! I hate it! It pops up all over the place here, even through 4" of mulch. I pull it and dig it when I can. I'm thinking about burning it this year with a blow torch. I might even get one that connects to propane tank so I can get it real good!

If you were closer I'd give you my dragon stick.
It doesn't really work here. Great for starting back burns though. Weeds just laugh at it.

It's funny how much further along most of you are with weather. My ground is frozen solid with a thick layer of ice & snow & will be for another month. There is no digging, no moving anything - heck I couldn't even get in the garden gate if I wanted. & it's snowing. I do love my garden & sometimes wish I could have a longer growing season, but then I really enjoy having the winter off - gardening is a lot of work. I don't know how y'all do it. I still haven't even re-done my garden layout yet (I'm mad I did it & then deleted it by accident).

Ugh! I hate it when I do stuff like that!

Good afternoon gardeners. You guys are far more organized than I am! I just wing it and put stuff where I have room lol. I had a little over an hour between when I got off work and when the boys got home from school so I planted the moonflowers, mulched and watered the blueberries, planted nasturtiums and forget me nots and cut the dead and decrepit leaves off the elephant ears. We’re headed out to do a little more straightening up out there in a few minutes. I need to get the grass watered tomorrow morning cuz I forgot to do it on my breaks. That’s it for me in the garden today. but tomorrow I’m going for soil and putting in some Armenian cucumbers and a teepee trellis. Those things are delicious! I’ve got indoor chores to accomplish before dinner, time to get busy. Take care all!

I for a free pack of Armenian cucumbers from Jungs with my order. I never grew them. They look different than any cucumber I've had before. So they taste similar though?

Y'all got me motivated so I went thru my seeds. All organized now! & my aeorgarden pods came in so I planted some more dill.

I'm def going with the Suyo Long cukes this year, they did fantastic last summer despite the cuke bugs.

Curious why you don't can your tomatoes? Last year we only canned salsa, hot sauce, and jelly (blackberry & grape). This year, I'd like to do more canning and maybe use the dehydrator. I'm thinking of canning tomato sauce, hot sauce, pepperoncinis, and probably do more jelly since I get a ton of blackberries and some grapes. DH has forbidden me from freezing anything this year since we still have barely made a dent in the freezer space.
