What did you do in the garden today?

Still snow from a week ago. Getting rain and possibly a bit of snow tonight and all day tomorrow. Warm today, but getting cold again for awhile.

Need to start some more seeds. A little preoccupied though! Spouse had surgery today: a plate and 6 screws to put his broken fibula back together. #@&% Ice!!
Wonderful what can be done today to repair us !

So now you can truly say your DH is screwy!
LOL
We actually made it to 37, so laundry is on the line.

🙃 That’s ok, it didn’t cost me any cash 😃 Hubs is off Friday so I’ll have him put it together and we’ll give it a try next weekend. If it works ok it will help a lot with the trimmings that always add major bulk to my compost every spring. Nothing much outside today, I’m headed to the kitchen to give it a thorough cleaning this afternoon. Have a good night all.
Ooooo I'm so envious! Let us know if it works well and is something you'd think was worth the money it would have cost, please!
However, one paint I’m reviewing is for indoor/outdoor. I’ll be putting the wood and paints in water daily starting tomorrow. I know we all struggle with finding the right sign/writing instrument combo.
Yeah, the tags for the veg rows are bad enough, but all the labeled stakes I used for the shrubs and trees are gone. Fortunately the nursery plastic labels are still readable.
Love my cricut machine.
How does that work? Do you print out plastic labels?
Wood, sharpies and a spray can of UV stable clear coat.
I might try this, with lots of clear coat. :)
I put up a hoop last fall between 2 raised beds, can't wait to grow my beans on it!
I didn't leave enough space between my beds for that and boy am I kicking myself now. That looks so cool!
Call me crazy, but I think I'm going to try crayons this year. Everything else I've tried fades and/or disintegrates.
I'm currently trying grease pencils myself. I started late in the season last year so it's too soon to tell.
Last night when I had trouble falling asleep, I had a thought that kept me awake for even longer. I can't take the chickens down to the garden to scratch up/eat the grass and sod that invades from the edges, but I could dig up the sod and take it to them. Piecemeal free range.
When I pull that annoying runner grass out of the beds I throw it into the outer run areas. The dang stuff is like B'rer Rabbit in the briar patch if it gets into the compost. The chickens don't eat it exactly, but any shoot it tries to grow is instantly eaten.
So I have a hen coming back into lay & OMG has she announced to the world allllll day long that she's going to lay an egg. She hasn't, of course, but sheesh she is redic! :smackShe has all the other girls all worked up too. & the littles have no idea what to make of her.
It's so funny when they start that, I think our neighbor's pullets are about to start laying and the singing back and forth is epic!

I really hope all goes well and a speedy recovery.

My grandmother was a Southie! I can still hear her saying pa-tay-da. Or maybe more like pa-day-ta. I dunno, weird tho. & Whipped - I still remember that but I have no idea how to spell it the way she said it. :gig
”Wee-ipped?”

I put in a few calls to take down a giant oak tree in the chicken run, of course not a single person has called back. They're going to need a crane & I'm not taking down the bird netting so it will be a little tricky but not a huge deal. I hate that you can't PAY people to do jobs anymore.
The guys I called got right back to me and were fantastic. Sorry you're so far away.

They took mature oak tree tops over my house. It was awesome to watch. I have another tree we might need taken down, and the neighbor next door has one for sure. Guess who we'll call?

Built this today.

Built this today.
Had the one one size smaller than that last year. It lasted one day. 20 mph winds and all the ties that connect the cover to the poles tore, once the wind was in, they all went and started bending the poles. I had the base anchored down with 18 inch pole anchors and paracord ties, not the company ties. I had to go look for the cover on the next farm. The only thing still standing was the base I anchored.
Full refund.

JUST a heads up. Watch those tie attachments from the cover to the poles.

I will! I’m so excited, you have no idea. My compost pile ends being five feet high and about ten feet across every spring, I’m counting on this thing.
