What did you do in the garden today?

Weather forecast was off thankfully. We got nothing but rain and plenty of it. We were supposed to get 3-7 inches of snow. Now they are saying we might get 2-4 inches of snow this afternoon/evening. That's alright though, because the rain melted just all the snow that was out there except a few spots left where the snow was piled very high flow plowing and shoveling. Another 2-4" is manageable if it does come down on us. According to the 10-day we will be in the 40s on Sunday and Monday, which is great, and then snow Tuesday and snow again Thursday. Hopefully the forecast is wrong about that snow too and it ends up being rain.

Good morning all. Warm today but wicked windy. I have two trees that look like they may not be able to remain upright through this wind storm. The snow and ice are finally receding and should be gone after the rain moving in overnight tonight. I had hoped to be able to get into the big garden today and peel some of the straw off the asparagus. I put a layer of straw over it in late Autumn but it swelled up. I don't want to remove all of it but it needs to be thinned out a bit. It's not really safe to be out there for long with all the little branches flying through the air. I did manage to put a camera on the back of the chicken coop earlier to see if it would work out there. I'm hoping to use the camera to help keep an eye on the chickens when I expand the chicken yard. I was also hoping to prune my apple tree today. There's still ice surrounding it but I think I can get out there and do a quick pruning . Fingers crossed, if not I should be able to do it tomorrow after the rain stops. My little Max had his neutering surgery on Tuesday. The poor little guy thought I was ditching him. He's fine now and healing very well. It really is nice to finally see green grass emerging through the ice cap. I'm hoping the ice and sub zero temps diminished the bad bugs so the garden will be healthier this year. Only rain in the forecast until a week from Friday. There's a snowflake in my weather app for that day, but that's way out there. I think I finally had enough of winter now.
