What did you do in the garden today?

Worked on threading up a new tartan on one of the looms yesterday. It was just windy enough to make it too chilly to work long hours outside.
Today we'll be at 65 and my work clothes are in the dryer. As soon as they're done, I'm outside.
DH will scoop manure from the stalls and then help me with some longer posts on the hoop house.
Tonight our temps plummet to below zero and below freezing for most of the week, so sewing and weaving and garden planning after today.

Just noticed this morning that the avian flu has been identified in turkey farms near Indianapolis. Just a wee bit disturbing. Cold morning here. Temperature was 10F when I got up earlier. We got hit by a big snow squall late yesterday afternoon. It dumped 1/2 inch of snow in less than 15 minutes. This morning I noticed fox tracks in the snow in my backyard and chicken yard. No plans for any outdoor work today. Tomorrow will be warmer so hopefully I'll be able to do some storm cleanup and thin the straw from the asparagus bed.

The only things that haven’t come up at all so far are the celery, lavender and calabrese.
Some things only 1 seed has sprouted but hey, it counts. 🤣

Speaking of wood chippers/shredders, I have a lot of invasive honeysuckle. I pull up/ dig up what I can and the rest I cut back/ down. My question is can I still put those branches through the wood chipper as use it as mulch on my garden? I’m thinking the pieces will be too small to root a new bush. What do you all think?
I dunno, you might want to compost it first Karen. That stuff seems to come up out of nowhere and composting should kill off any ability to sprout.

Good morning gardeners. We went to the park early this morning, then hubs went for lumber and I’ve been watering stuff/ straightening up in the backyard. I’ve noticed new growth on the olive tree and the little Arabian lilac outside the wall has new growth all over. Super happy for that, it was looking a little touch and go for a while there. I cut back the bougainvillea that’s hanging over the fence from the dog yard so I can move the compost barrel by next weekend. It’s pretty much in the middle of the yard but I was excited to get it started. The plan is to finish the arbor and plant the Carolina jessamine next to it today and start shredding stuff from the pile of trimmings. I might end up with a few miscellaneous piles out back until I can get that completed, but I’m going to line an old xpen with weed fabric, pin it in place with rebar in the corners and use that as my compost bin. There has got to be at least some containment or it’s just ridiculous. Break is over, have a great day all!

It's supposed to get up to 48F today. 33F right now. I'm hoping the snow that's left from the last storm melts today.
I had to drive into the city to do some more work on the sidejob. Hoping to get home early today though. I need to plant those new corno di toro seeds I picked up last week.

Bright sun here, gonna get up to 40, but still windy. I think I might take a book up to the green house and sit and read awhile. Get some sunshine soaked into my bones.

Of course, we're not done with winter. Tuesday night could be a real mess with freezing rain.

I have a $50 gift card to Lowes. Guess what department I'm going to first?

66 right now and I'm out working in shorts and a Tshirt and I'm too warm.
