What did you do in the garden today?

not sure about temperature but water in my chicken's run was frozen and it was snowing! luckily snow protected blossom on my peas and almond and plum trees. I did not expect that in march here. it is sunny right now and I can see snow on the mountain (or better high hill) in mainland. my new place in the country has been under snow for a couple of days. I hope to sell this house soon and finally to move there. it will be much better for both poultry and gardening.

Was just out in the seeding shed in my PJs. BRRRR
It's all sorted but it's only 20 degrees out there.
The starter mix needed the perlite and vermiculite put in and a little more water.
I sorted all the pots and seed trays, dragged out the heat mats, and OH, found the pepper plants I forgot about. UGH. I watered them, and today I'll move them down with the mums, so they aren't forgotten again. We'll see if they come through.
One more day below 32 and then we'll head upwards again and be in the 60s and 70s next week.

Thank you to whomever said they wash their plant pots in the dishwasher. I remember washing something plastic that melted, so I didn't consider it for my yogurt/cottage cheese containers. Then I figured I could try one... and it worked!

It'll take a while to wash all the ones I have, but I have about 3 weeks before I can even think of planting. And the compost pile has to thaw out so I can make potting soil. It's still hard as a rock.

What a cold day for having to be out and about. Well I have a temporary crown and hubby is just waiting to get called for Wisdom teeth. The man managed to make it to 31 before the dentist said get them out. They're not going to knock him out like we were originally told, so he won't be loopy. That means I get to spend the next 24 hours telling him to sit down and stay there. Otherwise he'll be trying to work on the garden and coop.

Need to water today, but too cold to let the plants leave the shower.

Run a cleaning cycle before you use dishes again. Sometimes dishwashers don't always fully drain and then recycle wild water from the depth. No one wants those on their dishes.
=========
Seed shed is sorted, soil is ready for fill. I still need to put it in my big filling can. I just pulled the eggshells from the oven for the tomato food, so I'll make that later today too.

But the loopy thing is so much fun!
and a build on that would be FUNNY! Very cartoony/Alice in Wonderland. It would be a great coop!

Who was it on here that talked about what to do for tomato starts that are getting a little yellow? I know it wasn’t water them. I did give them some tomato fertilizer about a week ago. That may have helped some. How often do you apply fertilizer to tomato seedlings ? These have a couple sets of true leaves

Half strength fertilizer once a week.

I so wish I had propane!
This so much! Since I'd also have to pay to get a propane tank set up on top of buying a new propane range, it'll take lottery win to make it all happen but that's my fantasy anyway.

It's beautiful out today with rain expected starting tonight and for several days. I'm going to direct sow some beans even without inoculant. I wish I knew what keeps getting into a couple of the planted raised beds. Looks like maybe a bird is poking around.
