What did you do in the garden today?

I got almost all of my compost turned. A good bit was still frozen and stuck to the cinderblock walls. There are frozen chunks in the bin where I tossed them.

I hope this weekend I can rake up leaves and thatch so I can get last winter's poop pile started composting. I think it's going to smell a bit as it gets warmer; it's nearly all poop.

They culled a flock about an hour from here. But they don't mention type of backyard bird, the living conditions, the number of birds, etc.

We live under 5 million migrating birds and not even Cosco or Tyson can keep birds out of their barns/away from their birds. I KNOW my free ranging birds are FAR healthier than factory/battery hens.

I didn’t want to post all the steps involved in dehydrating eggs. I looked at some quick information on it. It’s easy enough to find on the internet. Freezing eggs is easier but if you don’t have enough freezer space, dehydrating them could be a better option. How you do them depends on what you either have on hand such as a temperature controlled dehydrator or an oven that will sustain a steady temperature of 145 farenheit. I’m sorry if this is insufficient information for you but the specific instructions would take up way too much space on this thread.

Could you put clear plastic over your compost once the sun comes out to thaw your pile faster?

Good afternoon gardeners. It’s breezy but comfortable outside this afternoon. I was just checking the weather and we’re going to get to 89 by this time next week. I am not ready for that. 😔 I’ve got the water going for the lemon tree and had a chance to look at the aloe, the flowers will open by this weekend I think. I also noticed a lot of new growth on the beach party lilac, most excellent news. Still no apple tree, banana plant or night blooming jessamine darn it. I have to keep reminding myself it’s still cold in other places. I’m debating about moving the chaste trees, they’re out between the aloe and a log so the pots get shade, but it’s warming up quickly and they’re in gallon pots. I may have to get rid of the elephant ears, they’re struggling with our lack of humidity and even morning sun is burning the leaves, but those grow bags would do well for the chaste trees.

I am SO MAD at myself right now! I put all my starts outside yesterday because it was in the 70s and sunny. Forgot to bring them back inside... This afternoon the temperature dropped like a lead balloon and it got SUPER windy. I just went to bring them inside and most of my tomato starts look bent in half and wilted..... 😭😭😭😭😭

I can't believe I forgot about them! Where's the UNDO button? 🤬😭🤬😭
