What did you do in the garden today?

Morning all. Not much happening in the garden except I have to cover the fig tree & maybe put the plastic back on the lettuce hoop as they're talking cold & possible snow. :barnie Of course I folded up the plastic & put it away YESTERDAY. Oh & plug in the chicken waterer. Hopefully this is the last of it.
We have another 3-4 more days of "it." :barnie

I put away the heated waterer, but haven't had the water freeze, thank goodness.

Well, I broke the front porch hydrant off underground yesterday, walked down to the road and turned water off and I said I’m done for the day, since all the chores yesterday involved water, all my animals, 2 gardens, 30 container plants and all the hundred of seeding plants still in trays... lol.. it’s always something, good news the wife gets home sometime today instead of tomorrow so there’s that.. I’ll have to dig it all up (after a few more cups of coffee) and make a list of what I need to fix it and then drive an hour to Lowes (my local stores are always closed on Sunday, much less on Easter Sunday) and get pvc pipe, fittings, primer and glue..
Happy Easter Y’all !!

Ugh! I bet I just lost all my seedlings! Tomatoes, basil, Oregano, peppers, cucumbers, etc! DH said it wasn't going to get below 55 last night...it's 45!
Do yall think anything will survive? They were already lookin rough from the fungus gnats and the mosquito bit treatment.
I have been moving them in and outside for the past 2 weeks or so.
I wouldn’t toss them, give them a chance and see what happens.

I found out I can use any water soluble dye to tint my whitewash for the interior of the coop. I wonder if a little green tie dye powder would mix with the white and make it a similar color as that light.

you need to mix green with some blue to get similar colour.

Yup, thanks for that! I was comparing the color to others and realized it’s sort of aqua rather than green. I have some pigment powders coming and I think I’m going to do a contrast color outside, something close to the color of sand, then experiment a little with the whitewash before I actually do anything inside. I’m thinking bring the beach to the desert

That compost is not for sowing seeds... always use a seed starting/seedling mix.. or if all you have is a bagged compost try to sift it or remove all the big stuff, first and take out all sticks and big pieces of wood it will be much better for seed sowing.. When you start popping out the plants from the trays the sticks will damage/break your young vulnerable roots and hurt the plants..
