What did you do in the garden today?

I hope the cleanup isn’t too horrible. I am planning to get out and move a bunch of branches that fell. We lost one tree and another young tree cracked 3 large branches, snapped directly down but still attached. My garden poles fell over as well, so I have to put them back up (they are wrapped in garden fencing to keep my dogs out of the planted garlic and onions until we put permanent fencing up).
How old are your chicks?
Well easter hatch so 6 and 7 days old now. They made it just fine through 2 days no power. One of the benefits of a wood stove for heat.
I think about 5 full grown 50+yr old cedars got topped or split. Quite a few Large branches from a massive willow, a couple cherrys, a poplar, one hickory. And a few beech. Lost a couple ancient apple trees. Hoping some of it survives, they are not a variety you can get anymore.

Winds are going to be even stronger tomorrow.UGH. We lost power tonight. I'm guessing a tree couldn't handle it and took out a line out in open country down the road.
Trimmed up the tomato and set to cloning it.
Lining up all the weekend chores for Sunday when the winds are more reasonable, 25-35 mph. Temps in the low 60s though instead of 80s.
How do you clone tomatoes?

I’m trying to get the motivation to get out there and do some planting. I have a honeycrisp apple that needs to get in the ground as well as a few pawpaws. My musa basjoos, mulberries, and chicago fig needs to be repotted as well.

Other than that it’s still mostly quiet up here. At least the forsythia is starting to bloom.
Every time I read about forsythia I think of that movie Contagion lol

The sucker is the fruiting branch on a tomato plant, the first branch is just leaves/no flowers will ever form from the leaf branch, think of the branch and trunk/stalk of plant as an inverted “armpit”, the sucker/flower/fruit branch grows from the armpit.... pinch it off and plant it in a moist light soil.. or put them in a jar of water and in 8-10 days roots will form.. plant as a seedling.. stays 100% true to mother plant..

My homemade biscuits, everyone loves them on Saturday Mornings with or without cackleberries, sausage and cheese.. sometimes I just do honey/molasses/syrup and butter... then it’s outside to fix water leak and get some View attachment 3075205sh-tuff done. Y’all have a goodun !!
Flint
you say everyone loves them.
I am calling you out on your blatant LIE !
WRONG !!!
Wrong wronG !!

You will need to put a few of those in a box and send them down here and then BEG me to say I love them too !!! :p

All BS aside, I have freeze dried entire whole pizza's /pizza slices and Gyro's ands when rehydrated and eaten, they were awfully darned good !! I don't see any reason those biscuits would not be just as wonderful for survival food.

Actualy: PS. you live in Texas, I live in Florida, give me a heads up and drive over here and I'll give you a weekend of awesome fishing, eating, drinking and having fun. (Hell I'll even let you grab a pitch fork and work in my garden for me !!! :p :p )

Bring some of those biscuits too !!

Peace..
Aaron
