What did you do in the garden today?

Not good news for the kitty, sadly. She has a genetic condition where her immune system attacks her teeth/gums. So she is getting a full mouth extraction this week. And then her blood test came back, and she has kidney disease now too. She is 11, so in my opinion, has many more years to live. Hopefully this surgery helps her fell a little better.
Stomatitis. Not fun. My vet thought my 7yr old had it but thankfully just bad gingivitus.

Yes, that's the one. They are going to take xrays this week before the surgery. It would be great if they decided it was gingivitis instead! She is a really small cat, so it is hard to see in her mouth. Plus the whole squirming in pain thing. Poor baby.

I found Morels growing along the fence line at the office last year. The neighbor has a large oak tree. Nobody wanted it and I'm not a mushroom fan.
Wow....If only you lived closer to me! People in the midwest used to pay $35/quart for morels and that was years ago. I can only imagine what they would pay for them in today's market.

Afternoon all! I have been puttering a bit the last couple of days, but mostly busy indoors. The new crawler keeps me on my toes as she chases her brother up and down and up and down. They wear each other out a bit. It's good.

Yesterday we did get a pvc waterer set up in the run for the chicks. I say chicks but they're two months old and big now! Bigger than the cat finally. She got in the run but didn't seem to know what to do about the large birds, lol.

We also got some logs down to border the section of garden I'm about to plant up in the coming days. I just need a day where the baby will tolerate sitting in her stroller long enough for me to get the work done. Think she's in the middle of a growth spurt, so she's just nothing but cranky. We'll see what happens. It's nice today and I'd like to just get it all done.

And yesterday I watered extremely heavily and had some natural fish poo fertilizer in a hose end mixer. Stinkin' stuff that. When I watered this morning it made it smell again. Blegh. We'll see how the plants look over the next several days.

Fish emulsion is good stuff, not poop, it’s the actual fish.. just don’t use a lot if you have a heavy raccoon or wild cat population.. they will dig up plants to find the smell.. it’s best to water it down by half and apply early morning and late evening on feeding days, split feedings.. also if you foliar feed do same mornings and evenings the stomata are open and more receptive to intake foliar feed at those times..

It's 1 pm, Monday and it's 87F outside. We keep having "fronts" comin our way to never reach us. No rain to speak of in over a month. Got a front comin in this evening. The local weather station tells us to prepare for flash flooding but Intellicast says we have a 60% chance of .01" of rain. Intellicast has been way more correct lately than the local folks. Of course, "local " means Houston and they are 50 miles to the north. With that said, been concentrating on getting mulch, leaves, down to conserve water. Got most of the ground covered and everything is stayin moist. I am waterin every day but only about 1/4 of the garden per day.
I have most everything planted except I have another couple weeks until the a second planting of corn. Just a couple of 35' rows of Mrs. Lobos corn. And will still have a couple small spots to fill in if I get a wild hair.
Good luck with Y'all's gardens!
