What did you do in the garden today?

Good morning!

So a while ago I bought some potatoes for planting, 2 weeks ago I put them on the windowsill to grow eyes like the directions said and then cut them last night to plant today. Well this morning they look moldy, are these still ok to plant?? I’ve never done potatoes so I don’t know what to do

Yes, they are fine!! Plant them with stem/eyes up -although they will grow no matter the direction, it just makes it quicker for them to break ground sooner.

They’re just fine, good luck!

Good morning gardeners. I am such an idiot! I put the jalapeño plant in the ground yesterday but must have forgotten to water it afterward. :he I gave it some water this morning but I don’t have high hopes for it. If it’s not ok by the weekend I’ll get another. I don’t usually grow more than one plant since my daughter and I are the only ones to use them, unless I make pico. I read that bananas require a good amount of water so more water for that and the apple tree. I really don’t have high hopes for the apple tree. It looked to be breaking dormancy and I’ve had it under shade as per the instructions but nada. I’m using a moisture meter that will go nearly to the bottom of the grow bag and I’m monitoring daily so it’s not wet or dry, just moist. The shade garden is fairly well protected from high wind with the shade cloth, but there’s plenty of air movement also. I dunno, if this one doesn’t make it then I give up.:rant

I was feeling pretty down when we planted my tomatoes a couple days ago. The wind keeps whipping them around everyday and I ran out of clear plastic to wrap them with and I have no money to buy more right now. :(
I have covers for my peppers.
By the way. I cut up and freeze Jalapeños so that I can have some all year. (I just ran out, so grow peppers, grow!)

Winds are howling again this morning to 40mph and it's already 76 at 8am. And it's hazy humid out.
Running into town to get some potting soil to move up the tomatoes. I'm not going to worry about using seed starter at this stage as the seedlings are all at leas 4 inches tall. A little dirt would make the tomatoes happy.
Have a great day all.

Good morning all. A little chilly to start the day, 36F but it's warming up nicely. I should be able to put the starts outside this afternoon. I will likely hold off until Thursday to plant the tomatoes in the raised beds. The weeds I've been working on are fourtunately not in any of the gardening areas. They are firmly in the "lawn." Bad news is I was able to identify them and it's bad. The weeds are "mouse ear hawkweed." I really hate using chemicals but I may have to resort to Weed B Gone. At least it won't kill the grass. That's my summer project I guess. The plantings in the garden are doing well my kale seedlings are getting their secondary leaves and the carrots are peeking out of the soil now. I will need to water today. It's been awhile since we've had any rain. Hopefully I can mow the backyard and water this afternoon. It's laundry day and I need to run my little buddy Max to the vet for a nail trim and an ear check. Busy day. Wednesday is the big gardening day for DD. She is taking the day off so we can go to her garden plot and put up a fence and plant seeds. Gotta go for now. Have a great day.
