What did you do in the garden today?

Morning all, we had a really gully washer last night complete with pea sized hail, blinking power, and enough thunder and lightning to put me on edge. We had standing water a bit last night, but by this morning it had all dispersed or soaked in. I don't have to water today! Yay!

I do need to get out and plant up my bare root plants today, so this is a good opportunity to do so. It's going to be under 70 right up to 2 this afternoon. :yesss: So I should be able to put the crawler in her carrier and tote her around without too much fuss or misery, lol.

Pondering where to plant the okra seedlings! I read they have deep roots like 2-3' so not to put em in a raised bed with the weed barrier cloth.
Where I was goings to put them is the shallower end of my raised bed where kale and spinach is finishing up.
What do yall think?
Okra gets tall. As long as the roots can go deep, you are ok. So, put them where they won’t shade other plants too much. Okra loves heat, and to be kept moist. Once they finally produce you will get 1-2 pods per plant every couple of days. So, my 8 plants gave me an excess, but I sliced and froze many extra. My neighbors from LA (Louisiana) have, in the past, planted about a 25’ row. Now that produces a lot of Okra!!

Starting now, research gumbo recipes. Talk to all your friends to see if they like gumbo. Find a meat market that will give you a discount on bulk orders of Andouille sausage. Buy bulk freezer containers to freeze excess gumbo you can’t eat or give away quick enough.

So I stuck 2 more kabocha seeds in the ground. 🤞

Pulled half the bed of the bad bush beans & planted rutabaga. & watered it all in.

Do y'all soak your squash seeds before planting them? I never have & have never had problems direct sowing, but maybe I should with the kabocha. :idunno

I pulled a big weed out of the strawberry patch, it gave me a giant rash all the way up my forearm & boy does it itch! :smack

Also asked for my money back on those tomato 'starts'.
