For the record, too, I have no idea how that onion got in that pot either....

I found a squash growing in the saved pile of leaves I use to layer into the compost.

Spent the afternoon lining my garden with plastic fencing to hopefully keep the bunny who has been nibbling on my peas out. Mulched the front yard flower beds. Caught up on laundry. Stopped at TSC to pick up the new fencing that will be going up once the stakes are in. Pole beans have poked through!

I hope it helps. To be honest, I use 7 foot high plastic fence to keep the deer out & all the little critters just chew through the plastic at the bottom to get in, including the bunnies. I do hope you have better luck than I do! I gave up repairing it because they just chew new holes. Some day I may use HC around the bottom.

Thanks. Last night looks like there was no damage. The dogs do a good job patrolling, but I think this bunny strikes between 3 and 4:30am when they aren’t out!

I ordered a packet of vegetarian Rennet from Amazon today. I will try to make fresh mozzarella cheese from pasteurized whole milk when I get it. I am going to take my pizza up a notch.

I've made mozz with lemon juice before. Nor a big fan of the flavor. There is a Lot of technique that goes into getting a tasty and useable mozz. Worth the try though!

Squash bugs can kill plants if they are there in high numbers. But in low numbers, they won’t do much harm. Problem is they create babies. So, I’ll assume you want to spray nothing or do it minimally -I try to be selective with my spraying bc I would rather have praying mantis and bees and other beneficial insects. So, scan for the bugs, try to have them drop into a container (like you might do with Japanese beetles (JBs) so they die. Scan the underside of the leaves for their eggs and remove or squish really well. Look for their Non-flying hatched versions (look up pics) and squish those. Try to prevent as many as possible from becoming adults that create more babies. I use a handheld mirror to help scan under the leaves.

Boiled or baked. Sweet potato casserole is very common, although it is usually sugared up too much for my taste. They can be sliced and fried as chips, or made into French fries (but usually more moist than a regular potato French fry). It is also used in desserts and in the southern US, sweet potato pie is common.

We only eat sweet potatoes here, and sweet potato chips and crisps.. I never add sugar to them though or make that sugar, marshmallow thing.
I keep them sweet and just add cinnamon or make them savory with paprika, onion, garlic and salt and pepper.

Same here, I tried mozz & it was a big fail for me. But I make ricotta & it is super simple & so much better than store bought!

I despise those bugs! But I do the exact same thing here & I can usually keep them under control long enough to get a good harvest. & then later in the year when I pull the onions or garlic I will plant a 2nd round of squash in those beds & they fare much better than the first.

I put Joey (satin roo) over in there and he wanted no part of it either!
Yeah when I was trying to see what was causing the squash to literally fall off the stems.at thumb length a huge one scurried along! They are fast as grease lightening! And it was HUGE!

All of my squash were doing great in the old hoop house last year until the squash bugs figured out how to squeeze under the netting that was stapled to the lower frame. Then it was game over... A constant battle which I ultimately lost when I got Covid and was unable to spray for 5 days. In that short time frame, there were quite literally THOUSANDS of them. I just gave up. Let them have everything that was left and then piled up and burned all the mulch that had been in there and in the rest of the garden.
