What did you do in the garden today?

Any chance you are fighting fire blight? I had that hit my thornless when they were still amongst the living.

Yep, copper spray is the treatment. We had fire blight hit our fruit trees and a few of our thornless blackberries but it was tough on the trees. Don't know how many we lost.

Not sure. I googled fire blight but the pictures that come up don't really look like what I have.... I have two peach trees nearby and they look perfectly good but I do try to spray them religiously with Bonide Fruit Tree Spray. I sprayed the blackberries too but they continue to deteriorate so I'm going to up the game with copper fungicide instead.

I transplanted this little tree sprout. It was growing up through the bushes beside the house. Too close to the foundation. I don't even know where it originally came from, as there are no longer any trees in my front yard (just lots of dead stumps from when I moved in). Point of all this to say, there was no root ball to speak of, just a massive mess of interconnected roots. I dug out as much of this littke guy as I could, and I'm hoping it survives. :fl

It looks cute for tonight, any way

And anyone have any recommendations on what to plant in a raised bed AFTER onions and garlic?
When I pull my garlic & onions, I wait a few weeks, top off dirt with compost and then plant kale, arugula, kohlrabi, rutabaga, winter radish, mustard, or collards (all brassica family). Works well for me. I companion plant the brassicas and alliums so some beds already have brassicsas like cabbage and brussel sprouts next to the onions. Works for me, so hopefully it helps you too!

FYI I rotate in 4 year shifts:
1 Brassicas/alliums
2 Nightshades/lettuce
3 Legumes/curcubits
4 Roots/Chard

The next year:
1 goes to 2, 2 goes to 3, 3 goes to 4, and 4 goes to 1. Nightshades are big feeders so I like them to follow the legumes.

I saw some ants mining aphids up on my Okra, so I shot them with a solution of 1 tsp dawn soap and 1 tsp of neem oil in a 25oz spray bottle. I don't know if this kills them, but they don't like it. I'll check again tomorrow.

Oh, I just did a search and found out both neem oil and soap by themselves kill ants and aphids, so together should also work.

killed the garden.
Poppy’s little green thumb! You know me!
I use to have a problem of over fertilizing, when ever I saw plants and trees do good after fertilizing, I add more and they burn.

Everyone in my family know I have this problem, its something like an obsessive compulsive disorder.
