What did you do in the garden today?

Wow, must be that garlic likes it much cooler as it grows really well here.

It's hot & humid here today, but that's fine as I'm at moms so no gardening anyway. But I did walk thru before I left & had 3 female flowers open & no males on the squash. Maybe tomorrow I can catch them.

Electrician is coming tmrw to wire my new kitchen - then I'll have a dishwasher!!! :yesss: Can't wait for that.

Oh and bell pepper plants decided to grow...do I need to stake them? Still aren't very big but thought I'd ask before I forget lol.
I put those small cheap wire tomato cages around mine and when I run out of those (I just did) I do stake them up. We get a lot of wind here so it isn't really a question.
I love the bluff strikes! They look so funny and adorable.
Aren't hognose snakes the one that roll over and play dead? And if you turn them upright they roll over again to PROVE they're dead?
Honestly, I’ve had the best garlic luck by buying bulbs at the farmers market that were grown locally, and planting those in the fall. That way I know it grows in the same environment!
You just blew my mind, I never considered doing this! :th
Morning Gardeners. We have La ninna sitting over us to keep us cool till July ?
May not go over 68 until then.
Plants are not thrilled but growing slowly.
Yup, we were reading the same thing. I'm hoping we have a mild long fall to make up the difference.
One thing we have to do when we get to the other side is move The Big Rock. We got it out of the garden many years ago, so we should be able to get it about 12 feet farther east. I hope. The Jeep in 4 low is how we moved it the first time, so I hope we can do it again. We might have something we can use as a skid, or to roll it on.

There is another Even Bigger Rock that is just below the surface.
Okay, now I want pictures of both rocks please.
I checked the watercress I added to some of my bucket ponds and its starting to grow.
Oooo, have you always grown watercress? Are there any tricks? DP is planning on growing watercress in her bog filter pond. It grows wild here but I haven't seen any for years.

WOOHOOO!
Or maybe I can pull the flowers & stuff them with ricotta....yep, that's it!
I have got to try that this year, I planted a ton of summer squash this year so I should get the chance.

This is about half my onion harvest... I put a challenge coin on there for size comparison (it was all I had handy.... 😂). Most of my bulbs are very small. Like golf ball or walnut sized.... Guess I will need to plant more in early fall when the weather cools down. I will put them in the hoop house where they will be better protected from critters this time!

Yes. They are. Its very cute :D

@TJAnonymous Some homesteaders I watch on YT just grew their own onions this year from a bed that went to seed last year. They had big life stuff happen and couldn't harvest. They said the second generation of onions were the biggest onions they had ever grown from anywhere.
Maybe that gives me hope for the green onions I planted that were store-bought which we didn't use in time. Rather than throw them out, I planted them. They all flowered! I was just going to leave them and see what happens next spring.... This was them from a month ago...

Same here! If it makes you feel any better, same exact situation, turned out beautiful and long, tasted scrumptious! Especially with some good spaghetti and buttered bread & green onions.
