What did you do in the garden today?

@TJAnonymous That's my problem as well. Most of the garlic I harvested was small, and I hate peeling a bunch of tiny cloves. Lot's of work for little return is how it feels.

@Iluveggers That would be my ideal choice as well, but I've not seen any farmer's markets in the area at all, and all the roadside stands have corn, pepper by the huge bag full for salsa, melons, and agave nectar. One the other day had a couple of bags of peanuts, but that was the most unusual thing I've spotted so far.

when I have small garlic I don't peel them. I just wash them and cook the whole head (in soups, etc.).

Beautiful! I love the three ladies lined up to peek too❤️
Still a work in progress, but the first portion is in the ground now and I think she has all the bits and pieces she needs to get it assembled. I'll post pics once it's finished. We both have carnivorous plants and a good deal of those need a boggy set up so I might set up a small simple bog pond myself.
My daughter loves carnivorous plants too! She got me this pitcher plant two or three years ago. I named it Krampus for it's xmasy bug traps. She's got a sundew and pitcher plant that are gorgeous and some teeny little ones with beautiful flowers that she propagates by plucking a leaf and sticking it in moist moss. She's got some others but those are my favorite.

Bent some conduit for use in the garden as supports for bug netting.

In the foreground is the summer squash, behind it are Rutabaga, then 3 kinds of pumpkins.

Spouse made two more planters. These are taller than the first two. Behind the first ones on the deck.

Now I need to figure out how to cover the squash on Trellises. I am alreasdy seeing cabbage looper moths, so the SVB probably isn’t far behind.

Going to have to get up at the crack of dawn to water again... Ugh. I hope the whole summer isn't like this...
I cannot believe it! @chickengr the storm was dead shot headed for us....exact dame thing happened 30 moles away at my moms n daughters and THEY got rain...then it got to us and we got everything BUT rain! DH said on radar it literally split and went above and below us rain wise!
Idk how much longer the plants, chickens and me will last! It's gonna be even worse the next 7 days here!
mint and a few sage plants in a partial shade spot
Um...is mint and sage supposed to be in shade? Maybe that's what's wrong with my sage?!

Lol, don't worry too much about it @Gammas Bearded Babies. We stuck it in a high shade spot because out daytime temps are 97+ with low humidity AND we're sitting about 5 degrees closer to the equator than you are. So we get more sun during the day.

What is your sage doing though?
It's like stunted...not growing...it's gotta be 3 months along and still tiny.
I'll try to get ya a pic when I Brave to go water! Ugh

I'm disappointed... Collected my first butterfly pea flower today and put it in my Lemonade. It didn't make my Lemonade purple... 🙁 Oh well, still a very pretty flower. I put one in the bottle too. We'll let it steep overnight and see what happens.

Collected more onions tonight along with some green beans, runner beans, and a head of broccoli. My romaine is on its last legs. The heat is simply overwhelming it. The leaf lettuce under the shade of the runner bean lattice is still rockin and rollin.

Going to have to get up at the crack of dawn to water again... Ugh. I hope the whole summer isn't like this...

On a sad note, I don't think the Hinnonmaki Red Gooseberry plant is going to sprout. It's been at least 2 weeks now and nothing. That's what I get for betting on a DeGroot product from TSC. More mad at myself for being suckered in more than anything...
I can relate to getting suckered that way. I knew I was basically wasting money but I tried a few things and was right. Waste of time and effort too.

I didnt know deer eat tomato plants, but several of mine got a bad haircut. The peach tree is completely devoid of peaches 😭. I just canr beat the critters to them first. The tree has a large and deep hole in the ground right in front of it, its right along its trunk, but still seems steady and it has a huge growth on it at the base as well. I wonder if I shouldnt just pull it up 😩
