What did you do in the garden today?

I love all of those ideas!

In California the big deal was having a green lawn. I have no problem with not seeing a beautiful, luscious green lawn at every house. Southern California is a desert, the only thing that saved it was the aqueduct, but people called it the land of milk of honey. It’s not and they’re getting a taste of that now. Also, the state doesn’t allow water collection as far as I know, or didn’t when we were there, which is pretty ballsy if you ask me. If I pay to use the land, the water on it should be mine. Why let it just flow away into the gutter and down the street?!
Ya...I'm not a huge fan of grass lawns in the desert. I tried it when we first moved here though.🫣 Lawns are definitely water wasteful.
A ban on that wouldn't be a bad thing. Almost all of the grass lawns I see around here are at businesses. The college, one hospital, a lot of churches and at least one of the casino's. The closest I've seen to grass at a house was when I drove pass a house in town that had green painted gravel spread all over their front yard 🤣

No water collection is just plain nuts!
Good day yesterday. Bad day today. Raccoons are the enemy. Going to be fixing fence all day and collecting chick parts.
😔😔😔😔
Hope the fence fixing went well.

Decided to just build a more secure grow out pen. Too many spots on the fence to fix without pulling posts left and right.

Anyone else feeling unmotivated to do anything today? I have a lot of work-work to do and just don't feel like doing much of anything. I need to find my "give-a-$h*t button because I have to study for a certification examine in the next few weeks but I'm simply unable to find myself caring at all. *sigh*

I did attempt my very first garlic braid today. Not very pretty but it's functional....lol.

YES! I get up and do a little thing, but, eh.....it's over 100, howling winds, like being in a convection oven, pollen is off the charts, so even quick trips out are lung sucking

Tomatoes need pruned and tied up, warp needs wound on the loom, rugs need woven on the other loom, laundry (always laundry) needs finished and sorted, classwork needs sorted, prairie dust needs scraped off the kitchen counters, and dinner needs prepped.

@NewBoots Happy to help!

@TJAnonymous I'm in the same boat today. Right after I fed the chickens this morning I discovered the pump for the filtered water to the RV had at the very least managed to short itself out. (I don't do electrical) So I had to bypass the pump, which we've set up quick connects to do just that. So I've not got filtered water for washing dishes or watering plants. But worse is the weirdness that is me, lol. If my regular routine gets messed up it puts me in a funk, and that combined with the baby having a split night and being wide awake for two hours in the middle of what would have been a deep sleep cycle for me has thrown off my whole day.

So the dishes aren't done, dinner isn't started, and I've got a headache AND a cranky baby.

Nothing it happening in that garden today! Lol.

We have just a small patch in our backyard for the dogs, maybe 75 square feet.

When you were in the garden, you didn't realize how wavy and crooked the fence was.
Looks like someone had a few too many when that was put up!

OMG we've been wondering for years what that was and you got it! Thank you!
If you right click on an image you can use Google Lens to find out what it is. Sometimes the answer is something "useful" like "looks like a bird" but in the case of your picture it came up with lots of pictures of various forms of Escallonia.

Oh! But I did look at my garden this morning. The sage and mint are both doing quite well in relatively heavy shade so far. I'd bet they only get full sun for two to four hours at this point of summer. One of my spaghetti squash is looking a bit, well, I think it's dying. Ah well, I've got four others we'll see what happens. Saw some cucumber beetles, but they don't seem to be doing anything other than harassing my single mustard green a bit. So far they haven't found my one, actual cucumber plant.

I need to try replanting some stuff. Another day, lol
